So I've got a weird issue, and can't seem to figure out what the cause is.

Every night between 7 pm - 11 pm (Eastern), my wifi network slows way down (from 20 Mbps to 1 Mbps). I originally thought it might just be due to normal internet traffic during peak hours, but my hardwired computers all test full speed (between 20-30 Mbps) during the same times. During some of that time, no one is using any devices on the wireless network (except me, to do the speed tests).

In the morning, however (8-9 am), the wifi network is fast again (20 Mbps).

My setup is somewhat of a hodgepodge. Got a high performance "gamer's" router running off the cable modem (Roadrunner, from Time Warner Cable), and the wifi router (a Linksys WRT54GL) is plugged into that. No computers run hardwired off the wifi router.

Any ideas what might be wrong, or how to best troubleshoot?

Thanks!

Just wondering if it's time to upgrade my wireless adapter (Linksys Wireless G Compact adapter). Myself and my son (using same adapter) have had a drop-off in signal strength lately. We're now using AT&T home wireless system which probably has much to do with the problem. Just wondering if it's time to upgrade to something newer and modern. These adapters are probably 5 or 6 years old.

Problem is, I have no idea what to upgrade to. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. :D

Running XP pro w/sp3, after a changed my router one of my three active partitions (3 HDD's) the one I use all the time is slow to shutdown.
I changed out a old Verizon DSL route for a Linksys wireless router (using the wired connection) and by doing so the system is slow to shutdown. I remember reading something about network conflicts connected to the O/S, but don't remember the terms which makes searching impossible.

I use static IP addresses for my three PC's and two TiVo DVR's which are on the network. No firewalls. This happened right after I swapped routers.
