OK I'm working on this no-name computer.

After a recent storm it won't turn on. Nothing that unusual.

I disassemble it, try spare PSU and RAM still won't boot.

I order a replacement board same model GA-G31M-ES2L (refurbished)

It worked for about 6 hours (including resets/online in Windows) it does have some problem starting with PCI modem card though. I restart it for the last time, nothing. Disconnect everything again. Try spare RAM, different PSU, nothing

I order a replacement CPU. Core 2 Duo E6300 (used but tested). Nothing.

Each time I've cleared the CMOS, run it with only a stick of RAM and the PSU. Nothing since those six hours.

I can't build outside the case since the power switch cable is short.

WHAT AM I MISSING? Please help.

I've built systems before, I've fixed problems like this before.

I've been on this forum before (over 200 posts) but I no longer have email address for that account

I am putting together my first liquid cooled and I finally powered it up.
I am getting a "00" no sound (beep) and no video.
I have tried the following:
- Disconnected everything but power, one memory stick and video card.
- Connecting a fan to the "cpu fan" instead of the PWM splitter.
- Reseated and replaced thermal paste on the CPU.

What am I missing?

How do I determine if it's the MOBO or CPU?

System:
MOBO: Intel DX58SO2
CPU: i7-965 Extreme w/EK - Supremacy Elite WB
Memory: 2 - Crucial Ballistx 12G(3X4GB) DDR3 - 1600 CL8 1.5V (BLT4G3D1608DT1TX0.16KFR)
Video: GeForce GTX 670 FTW+ 4GB w/EK-FC680 GTX+ Acetal WB
Cooling: 2-MCP35X in series, Maelstrom Res, MCR320-QP Stack Rad w/Helix-PWM's

Thank you in advance.

Hello,

I've had some very strange events happen to me in the last 24 hours regarding my computer. I'll be completely honest, I'm not a computer expert or anything, but I know enough to see that what has happened is not usual.

It started this morning. I own an HP Pavilion dv7 laptop. Don't know the exact model or anything, but it's about 3.5 years old. I had left it on last night playing some videos on YouTube, and woke up this morning to see a blue crash screen with the "saving memory data to hard drive" frozen at 5%. I thought that was kind of strange, so I pushed the power button and rebooted. Apparently my laptop no longer recognizes having a hard drive inside it. It did not boot, and when I opened the boot menu to do a diagnostic it said "hard drive not exist".

First thing I did was take the back off the laptop, the error that flashed when it tried to boot said something like "cable unplugged", and I had dropped my laptop a couple feet last week (yes, I'm very hard on my electronics. That said, I would have thought that dropping the laptop would have instantly killed it or else degraded its performance. I had no warning of any hard drive issues before I woke up this morning). I thought maybe something magically came unplugged. The hard drive connector was a little loose, but when I reconnected it to the board the computer still refused to boot. I did learn it was a Seagate hard drive though, so I can find another one online for ~$60 and slap it in. Then I get a clean install of win 7 and I'm good to go.

Sounds like "magical hard drive failure", but that's not the weird part. Here's the weird part: so far today I have personally put blue screens on 5 computers, and froze an Apple computer. Whenever I start playing a YouTube video the computer dies. It works fine anywhere else, including playing flash media on other websites, but YouTube causes it to die.

I'm currently at a university using their network internet, and all the other computers I've tested this on have been publicly available computers that I log onto with my student username/password.

Anyway, what do you all think of this? It's really weird. I can accept my hard drive going up in smoke overnight, it wouldn't be the first time my laptop has magically broken, but the fact that every computer I try watching YouTube videos on crashes is too strange.

One more thing I think I should mention, I tried the experimental HTML 5 Youtube player that's been under development for 3 years they've never told anyone about. That worked fine. It's only when I'm using the Flash Youtube player that computers go crazy... I swear Flash hates me. Evrey computer crash I've ever had has involved flash in some way.

My Gaming rig is currently not working. I replaced the mobo M5A97 EVO to a M5A990FX Pro, and the computer is still exhibiting the same issues.
Rig Specs:
AMD FX-6100 CPU
ASUS M5A990FX MOBO
Antec EA750 PSU
AMD HD6950 Gfx Card.
2x4GB DDR3 Memory.
The system is exhibiting the same issue with both mobos the USB Peripherals are not receiving power and Monitor is not receiving signal. The day the system started exhibiting issues. The monitor was on and the screen was black with all the peripherals were on. I restarted my system, and peripherals were off and the monitor still did not have signal. I've eliminated the monitor from my issue. I originally thought the memory channels went bad on the M5A97 Mobo because it was exhibiting the same issue with two different sets of memory.

Your help troubleshooting my gaming computer will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

Second, the windows update yesterday made my PC blue Screen and reboot, did a restore to remove and now everything is fine, for anyone interested it was a 0xc0000005 code, memory error, I guess I should do a memtest to check but kind of lazy right now (That's right, the Truth :D
