A7V133 New 1007.01f beta Bios

Anybody running the new 1007.01f bios for the A7V133. Was posted today on Asus.de ftp server. Dropped my reported temps by 5 degrees C, new Promise Bios revision. Slightly better mem benchmarks but dropped HDD performance on my machine by 5%. Would be interested in hearing what others find with this one.

Thanks!

You can always download A7V133 bios from Asus Germany FTP Server here: ASUS GERMANY FTP Server - A7V133

For A7V133-C Bios from Asus Germany FTP Server here:
ASUS GERMANY FTP Server - A7V133-C

or you can download directly by clicking the Asus Bios for A7V133 Bios Version 1007.01F here:
Asus Bios 1007.01F]A7V133 Bios Version 1007.01F for A7V133 With 13x & 14x Multiplier

For A7V133-C Bios Version 1007C.01F, download here:
Asus Bios 1007C.01F for A7V133-C With 13x & 14x Multiplier

The latest Final Bios for A7V133 is Bios version 1006 Final, Download here: A7V133 Bios Version 1006 Final

This beta bios 1007.01F , 1007C.01F , and final bios 1006 are somehow not even announced yet by any of Asus Websites. There is no Final Bios 1006 for A7V133-C, yet.

Note for beta bios 1007.01F & 1007C.01F:
A7V133: ACPI BIOS 1007 beta 001-F dated 31.08.2001 for A7V133 incl. PROMISE-ATA100 v2.01.1 (Build 42)/ RAID-BIOS v1.31 (Build 22+24)/ SDMS BIOS: without SDMS
A7V133-C: ACPI BIOS 1007 beta 001-F dated 31.08.2001 for A7V133-C only with SDMS Bios: v4.12

Use the latest AFlash 1.37 under pure DOS environment (Not Windows DOS). Download AFlash 1.37 here: AFlash 1.37

Everthing seems okay.

I think this bios is better for ppl who have 1.4GHz Athlons, im sure the old beta wasnt as good.

It seems that Bios 1007.01F does not work properly on my A7V133 with TBird 750 MHz B chip (100/200 FSB). Everytime I adjust the multiplier manually in bios, it always revert back to 7.5 (cause 750 MHz = 100 x 7.5). So, whether I adjust the cpu fsb to any values, the multiplier remains the same at 7.5 (default for AMD TBird 750 MHz B chip), resulting my system to crash / not booting properly. I notice that in the CPU FSB in bios, it adds the new options: 750 MHz, 1000 MHz (as a result of 7.5 x 133), and Manually. Whereas in the older Bios 1006 final, it only has 2 options: Default & Manually.

It seems that this beta bios 1007.01F is not suited for AMD B chip (100/200 FSB) and is intended for the AMD C chip (133/266 FSB).

CPU & MOBO Temp is a bit lower.
One big problem is that there's a big delay (10secs) when detecting disc's on the Promise controller.

I'm going down for a format today, so what's the stablest BIOS out there? Is it the 1006 Final?

Cya..

I just flashed to it. Can adjust the multipler but it's effect doesn't take. Back to 1006.01i for me.

I flashed with it today and found the same problem.
It did delay detection on the Promise Controller by
a considerable amount of time. I have the same temp
reading on mine though.

ASUS' site had the 1006 bios for a few days then pulled
it right out and quick!(hint, hint:rolleyes: ) So I went back
to the official 1005A. A couple of post above this one,
I told you guys that I flashed with the new 1007.01f,
but had all kinds of problems!

UPDATE: From my previous post about 1007.01f,
everytime I tried to restart, my system hangs for a while
then BSOD! And it kept disabling my USB connection!
Sooo...I went back to 1005A again.

So far I've found that 1005A is the most stable bios
out there that I've tried. Here's a link to that bios:

ftp://ftp.asus.com/pub/asus/mb/socka...3/avu1005a.zip

Okay...guess I am just one of the lucky one's.

:)

I see all the prob's listed that people with this bios version and certainly wouldn't suggest it to anyone anymore.

But I am still having good luck with it. Agree that Prosime detects considerably slower, but I went RAID this AM anyways, so that took care of the slowdown detecting. I am able, for the first time, to post with a fsb above 142 and since I am using the dip swithces for the multiplier the bios not sticking isn't really an issue for me.

So how long untli ASUS pulls this one???

We really should start a pool on how long ASUS bioses actually remain posted:D :D

zirik 09-01-2001 07:23 PM

that poll will be really short lived :D
