  1. Re: Saturday October 29 10:00 AM ET - Virtual LAN party #14

Unfortunately it kind of comes with the territory. DLC definitely sucks, especially the way that it fragments user bases. We can try to advocate to focus on base games where possible, but its tough...

Welcome! Its always nice to see new people joining us, I'm sure you'll have a great time!

always stoked to see so many people who enjoyed our previous VLANs coming back excited to take part in another one :thumb:

Spread the word! The more the merrier!
  4. Re: Saturday October 29 10:00 AM ET - Virtual LAN party #14

I thought you had a Halloween party that day... or is that just something creepy uncle Frogmeat told us to get out of showing up to the VLAN?

Hahaha this made me laugh because that was literally the first thing I saw. seems like a legit control scheme, definitely an optimization vs most standard KB flying layouts.

  8. Re: Battlefield 1 min/recommended specs released

I presume you mean the minimum Intel CPU spec? Yea, thats why its so laughable. Effectively the min CPU spec is probably equivalent to the "recommended" level... the difference hyperthreading...

    Re: 1tb ssd

Not bad, though I think you could probably have done a bit better if you'd sat on it. I managed to pick up a 960GB SanDisk Ultra 2 from Amazon for like $125 a couple months back.
  12. Re: building a system for graphic arts student

I'm going to concur with this. Really really depends on what kind of "Art" we're talking about. A bit of photoshop or lightroom might hit your CPU a little bit, but its not really worth upgrading...

Re: Nvidia GTX 1060 GPU vs AMD RX 480

The aftermarket 480's are here and most samples can't hit 1400mhz boost, so you're looking at around ~9-11% OC. Thats right in line with what the 1060 will do over stock, even the FE. There are...

Re: SB Z Sound Card Software Question

In general I prefer to uninstall/re-install, but its probably unnecessary. I think the days of crazy sound drivers breaking everything have gone, so you can probably just overwrite and if you have...

oof, its been a while since I've overclocked a westmere. Unfortunately I never used that motherboard and I think few around here are using anything of that vintage to give you current settings.

Not quite. Basically the refresh rate of the monitor gets tied to your framerate. This is kind of the opposite of vsync, in which your framerate is tied to the refresh rate of the monitor (or some...
