Devastating review by gamers nexus: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IwczmQNHVfo&t=345s
They say dont buy.
You wont need a BIOS update because like CMB said the CPU is supported by that board from day one.
If you however want to update the BIOS anyway (and that might be wise if you want to overclock)...
If you dont increase the Vcore the extra power consumption is minimal and most intels can overclock quite a bit without needing extra Vcore.
Like MrNovi you can probably still use power saving...
Im not sure (since i only have my board for a couple of days now) but i think you can run it once to set those temp and fan speed settings and u dont need to run it after that. Other then that, just...
EasyTune is useful to adjust smartfan settings. You can't select a target temp in the BIOS, just enable or disable smartfan. But with EasyTune you can set the 'max temp' and the fan speed you want...
They used a 65nm quad in that review and these 45nm quads are knows to be a bi4tch to overclock, however most people still get 3.4Ghz - 3.8Ghz with some tweaking. Right now the F3 BIOS is the only...
The ctrl + F1 does 'take' but i only get two extra settings, both of which i dont know what they do. Right now the system is running at a minimal overclock from 2666Mhz (333Mhz FSB) to 2760Mhz...
Thanks for the reply!
I have EIST and C1E disabled, i'll try the legacy USB support.
I've tried the ctrl + F1 and the screen does 'refresh', but i dont see any different options. A friend of...
Hello folks! :)
It's been a while since i visited pcper.com but i finally got my new system together and started overclocking it yesterday and today.
However i'm running into problems at just a...
And since there isn't even a 266Mhz FSB CPU (if that would mean 533Mhz), why would AOpen officially support that with a KT333 chipset. :)
But if the BIOS doesn't support a speed over 133Mhz FSB,...
Did u really have an air flow problem before? :D You got a big ass case with a lot of space! :p
Up .25vcore? So that would be 1.65Vcore? That's probably too much and you would 'need' to run 3.2Vdimm to make sure the voltage gap between the memory controller and the rest of the CPU doesn't get...
The E4 core is used on the FX-57 and single core Opterons. So i guess that's the one you'd want.
I guess there are always exceptions but in general the E6 cores overclock less good compared to the E3 revisions and most E6 cores i've seen (and had) overclock pretty much the way i said before.
The E3 revisions overclocked better then the E6 revisions on average.
And as far as i know an E6 would do +/- 2.4Ghz at 1.4v, 2.5Ghz at 1.5v, 2.6Ghz at 1.6v.
So your E3 overclocks kinda like an E6...
3.4Ghz isn't even realistic with watercooling. That must have been with phase change cooling or something. On average a singlecore Opteron should be able to do about 2.8Ghz at stock Vcore and...
E6 is the core revision and not the stepping and they are all E6, so that's no issue.
The cooling on a DFI board is low enough to make sure you dont have any clearence problems with any GFX card. But yes it's located at a very bad place.
In your case it's probably smart to go for...
I would really advise to get another GFX card if you want to make a gaming rig out of this. In the other thread u said u had a lot of money to spend, then this 7600 would certainly not be my first...
The new AMD architecture doesn't use a FSB anymore. What sets the CPU clockspeed now is the multiplier times the HTT (or HT) speed. It can be a bit confusing since some people call it HTT some call...
Best bang for buck is the Opteron 144/146 and the 165. Just because they are the cheapest. They'll probably all overclock to about the same. The only problem with the Opteron 144 is that the core is...
I suggest you take a look at the socket 939 Opteron 165. It'll have 2x1MB L2 cache just like the 4400+, but it'll be much cheaper and they overclock great too. (often FX-60 speeds or even beyond)...
Yeah if u want a singlecore just go for an Opteron 144, 146 or 148 and save yourself a lot of money. Those Opterons use the same core as the FX-57 and should overclock to the same speed and often...
I think we can all agree memory bandwidth isn't a problem for AMD even with the current DDR systems. If they really need this step to supply enough bandwidth for future faster system. (which would...
