Re: What 'water wetter' should I get?

I ended up using "Hyper-Lube Super Coolant", which I purchased @ Kragen Auto Parts. At idle, my temps are around 90F, and are reduced to about 108F under "real-life" load. Using Toast.exe, the temp...

You're right. What a scam... ;) I'll call up the local Kragen today and see if they have any of this stuff on stock. Thanks.

    Re: removing AS epoxy?

Yes. it is the safest thing to do in my mind because you aren't putting extreme heat stress on the chip and surrounding PCB. Also, remember that the thin, uninsulated wiring that holds the chip onto...

    Re: removing AS epoxy?

heat makes the epoxy create more "suction" if you will. thats not really what it is, but it gives the same result. using cold makes the molecules slow down, and therefore they bind less. Heat might...

What 'water wetter' should I get?

I need new water wetter chemicals for my system. Fry's Electronics doesn't seem to have this kind of thing (refills at least). I'd rather not buy online if I can help it, but there are plenty of...

    Re: removing AS epoxy?

freeze it. Put it in your freezer and let it sit for a few hours (in a sealed static bag of course!). take it out and carefully pry off with a flathead screwdriver. If it starts to get too hot, put...

Re: Water block coolant addative question

Maybe I'll discover a new species of algae or something! :P
I took off my waterblock and removed some of the AS5 thermal grease. This seemed to work well, as temps are back down where they should...

Re: Water block coolant addative question

From my experience, the higher the clock speed, the more heat is generated per 1 Mhz. Therefore, at high overclocking speeds, just a few mhz can make a lot more heat.

Re: Water block coolant addative question

You have to remember my system is overclocked over 660Mhz. A few degrees can have a huge effect. BTW, I fixed this problem a bit by removing some of the excess thermal grease which was obviously...

    Water block coolant addative question

I have a ThermalTake Aquarius II watercooling system. My Athlon XP 2100+ used to run just great at 2.4GHz, never getting hotter than maybe 110 Deg. F. I've had to add more water to the system over...

  17. Re: High temp reading w/ Speedfan and Epox 8rda+ motherboard

If I could find a schemetic or something somewhere that showed the sensors physical locations on the board, I could figure this out pretty quickly. There's no industry standard for naming these...
  18. High temp reading w/ Speedfan and Epox 8rda+ motherboard

I have an Epox 8RDA+ Rev 1.1a mobo. Recently, Speedfan reports 'Temp 1' as being up around 260 deg F or so most of the time. What part of the motherboard is 'Temp 1' referring to so I can check out...

    Re: Messed up internet speed.

I"m not an authority on the topic, since I have a Motorola modem, but I've *heared* at least that Netopia devices are often rather crappy. Don't know what else to say w/ any purpose other than it...

Re: Can a host route (IP) end in .0?

OK, if 0 and 255 are reserved for the said functions, what is 254 used for? Is it some routing function or something? That would be my guess.

Re: HOw do you insall Solaris 9

Re: Can a host route (IP) end in .0?

IPs, especially gateways can't end in 0, or 255/254. Must be 1-253. Why? Don't ask me, I didn't write the IP protocol :P

You can, in some cases, use .0, such as when you want to do something with...

  25. Re: iPAQ h1945 (Strong ARM CPU) overclocking

My PDA doesn't get any hotter, but it does use batteries faster. Even so, it can go a whole day w/ no problem. It is noticably faster, especially with handwriting apps, which is the main reason I got...
