  1. Re: Weird Caviar Black 2TB problem, will not format to 2TB

Have you tried formatting as GPT? Due to the way NTFS (and FAT32) is setup you cannot see anything 2TB and larger.

If you are using a new OS, like Win 7, it should have the option to format as...

    Re: i7 920 Temp issue

Are you sure? According to the datasheet provided by intel, the chip is recommended to have a temperature limit of 67.9C at 130W (with the stock cooler). Yes, I agree there is a safety factor, but...

    Re: i7 920 Temp issue

ya I am pretty sure those readings are completely false. Typical intel thermal limit is somewhere between 70C-75C. Even approaching 70C sometimes causes BSOD, hovering in the 80C is risking total...

    Re: i7 920 Temp issue

Worst case for a core i7 9xx that is not overclocked and is using the stock cooler running in the bios should be something in the range of 45C (I am guessing that there is less than 55W in use). ...

    Re: i7 920 Temp issue

Right, that is my point. If it is oddly high in the bios then:

    1. Your bios is screwy and is not reading the voltage change from the thermistor correctly.
    2. Your thermistor is giving a faulty...

    Re: i7 920 Temp issue

have you considered the idea that you have a faulty thermistor or your mb is screwing up the electrical signal before it gets to the OS?

Re: Windows 7 and Raid drivers for new build

You can load the drivers from a cd and then reinsert the win 7 cd, just recently did this and it worked like a charm. I believe you can also use a usb stick as well.
