I swapped in other DRAM that used to oc to 2200MHz in this same system... They WON'T oc anymore, either.
So, probably not the RAM.
I guess I'm left with mobo and/or CPU. I think 1.55v is within...
I appreciate the responses.
I was hoping to gauge how common this is. So far hard to say, maybe not common. I also wonder how long it will take to get the RAM back from G.Skill.. I guess I will...
I have some other sticks that used to run at 2100MHz in the system. I'll swap them in and see what happens. If I can oc the old sticks it seems reasonable to suppose the "formerly 1866 stix" degraded...
They sell a lot of 1.65v DRAM, and I find no warnings to avoid mixing them with Ivy Bridge. Surely by now we'd have heard something if this is an issue. This is a year-old response from Intel,...
Yes, it will POST up to about 1650.
If the mobo will oc the memory up to 2400, is the controller still the one on the i7?
Also, do you think 1.55v is "running at a higher voltage"? I think...
I'm curious to know if others have seen this issue? Is it worth the hassle to RMA? Will the issue get worse? Or maybe, can there be another explanation such as mobo/BIOS?
I have a set of G.SKILL...
Thanks JaccDude
I've been bidding on a ASUS HD7850-DC2-2GD5-V2 via Ebay. Was a steal at $70, but can I spend $150 on EACH nephew?! :p...
I'm curious what's the best graphics card I can get my nephew without also getting him a new PSU. He has 500W but only 1 6-pin connector on his PSU.
Thanks!
The timings tighten well, though the voltage seems necessary.

I picked up a 16GB kit at Newegg for $98.99; I'm well pleased. :)
I quickly got them up to 2116MHz 9-11-11-31-1T 1.55V, and I bet they will go faster!

I splurged for a second Vertex 3 120GB, at least for a bit.

How about on this point: My system will last longer at lower temps?
If Intel says Tj is 105C can I run at 104C with no worries? Or, will running at around 40C mean I get a much longer life from...
so if I set the LLC higher I get more juice at each ratio increase than with the LLC set lower? Or another way, the higher the LLC the broader the range of voltages applied in response to CPU load?

Do you have SuperFetch enabled? Windows SuperFetch predicts what programs you may use and "pre-launches" these programs into memory even though they don't appear in Task Manager or on the Taskbar. I...
So I tracked down the Lucid / SLI situation: http://www.futurelooks.com/lucid-mvp-no-love-nvidia-sli-and-amd-crossfirex/
Seems it doesn't work by design. :(
My experience is SLIGHTLY different...
Yeah I feel pretty good about the NAS performance. I'm wondering if the 2 old 1T 2G Green HDD I pull out of the NAS will satisfy me for installing into my gaming rig and storing the games on them.

What I seemed to find is if I set the voltages to manual I get the same voltage at idle as at load.
Yes, I got a nice stable overclock at over 4.8GHz and I was able to adjust the voltages to...
I just noticed I had mentioned the RAM overclocking.
I get a nice stable 2026MHz 9-9-9-24-1 at 1.6v :) I'll work on lowering the voltage at some point, but it's not seeming to cause any thermal...
So today I exchanged the VGA Ext cord I mistakenly bought for a VGA cord, and I am back to report on the ASUS BIOS to my Samsung TV issue.
Yes, I can see the entire BIOS using the motherboard DVI...
Thanks for the reply.
With the H100 on Max/Turbo with the push/pull and edging back the voltage a bit from the ASUS automatic increase for the ratio bump, I think I got stable 70C at 4.5GHz 100%...
I enjoyed learning to oc and was thrilled how much "extra performance" I could attain.
Now, I've gone back to stock for a serious consideration of the thermals. At stock 3.9GHz my thermals hang...
I'm pretty n00b as well. Thought to point out I didn't understand how to recognize Prime95 FAIL at first.
I naively thought if the window was still open and no pop-up errors were visible...
There is much (by far most) that I love about this case. I like the look, and it will be a good case for LAN parties. The Prodigy is sturdy, has very good airflow, and the modularity allows for my...
Hi
I'm quite pleased with my new LAN rig build. I think you'll find the specs in my signature, below.
Now I'm looking to add a secondary HDD and expecting to install games from Steam onto this...
