Re: Sad news for BWM's friends

Rest In Peace Brad you "Ornery Ol' Fart"....
To those that never knew him that may sound disrespectful, but that's the way he often described himself around here,
    Underneath the frivolity however...

    Re: Back Online, Sad news

    Sorry to hear your news,
sign of the times though with increasing power costs and ageing systems,
never is a long time though, how about "just taking a break"...... ;)

    Re: Watch out Sick Willie

In my opinion the reaction to the latest "Big Bigadv" Wu's which were released from closed beta way too early, and well before any real thought was given to the possible impact on Bigadv as a whole,...

Sorry to throw a "spanner in the works" guy's,
I love a good race, I really do....
But this is disturbing for Bigadv folders:

    Re: What happened with bwm?

You are entitled to your opinion on most of what you've said, but I personally take exception to the last line,
My reasons for leaving The Frogs were documented at the time if you care to look, and...

Re: bigadv vs bigadv + gpu vs smp + gpu

Yup, those smaller Wu's use more Cpu time, another odd thing I've noticed is each Gpu3 client ties affinity to all Cpu cores too (in windows task manager)
I'm pretty sure the Gpu2 client used to...

Re: bigadv vs bigadv + gpu vs smp + gpu

I don't know if the bigger P6811 Wu's were a "one off" or we'll see more in the future, but apart from the extra power and heat, the much longer frame times made them ideal for Bigadv smp and Gpu...

    Re: 5xx GTx Series Folding

If you want to run smp "bigadv" Wu's then the less Gpu clients the better,
Gpu clients Cpu requirements don't have as big an impact with the later Gpu3 Wu's as the older 200 series cards and the...

    Re: 5xx GTx Series Folding

The 580 is a nice choice and should "future proof" Gpu folding for a while, if you're considering a powerful rig from the ground up though, I'd have a good look at what can be achieved with the smp...

Re: news on failing Fermi cards

Not the cards failing as such, but needing a lot more than stock cooling to prevent either the hardware itself or the drivers from downclocking with the big Wu's,
    there's a lot of...

Re: news on failing Fermi cards

Better cooling solutions would help for sure, but the problem with the 460's only started to be reported when the new Wu's were released to advmethods, so those running that switch were the first to...
  13. Re: Hey! Froggies who are moaning the lack of members!

Havn't seen a lot in this thread so far that would encourage anyone to participate in any DC projects, of which Folding and Stanford are only a small part, it's nice to hear that you help out in your...

I can't honestly say I disagree with anything you've said, but I'll make it clear that even though the proposed changes to the DC forums have been "floated" for a little while, they had nothing to do...

    Re: Best I7 GTX260 setup

If you can get a stable overclock at 3200Mhz or more, and with the switches mmettin suggested you can pickup the smp -Bigadv Wu's, the higher the overclock the bigger the bonus points on those as...

    i7 and Bigadv Wu's
