Yeah, like I said earlier, I was surprised how comfortable the laptop with touch screen turned out to be. I mean, I'm literally using the keyboard, touch screen, and touch pad back and forth all at...
Hi all. We just purchased our son in HS an Asus Q500A - BHI7, a 15 inch notebook with win8 and a touchscreen. The latter is what I wanted to address, because it definitely changes how you interact...
I may have the pdf for the mobo, but I would have to did around quite a bit on one of my old storage drives.
bump . . . anybody?
It will be interesting to see how Win works with this input source, assuming it works as advertised, or at least does so eventually:

Hello BrotyerC. Long time, n o see. I hope you are well. We oldsters just stick around.
I have Win 8 Pro installed on an old laptop on a 120G SSD and could not be happier. It has totally given...
Thanks for the response. Please keep in mind that all was working well until two days ago. I should have made clear that the WD My Passport drive worked in the ASRock just fine before, just like...
Hi all. Got a mystery of sorts. In my ASRock i5 system (see sig), my optical drive is "not accessible" in Win 7 64 bit. This seemed to happen suddenly (I do not use the optical drive all that...
Amen, brother, and much to my wife's consternation. So much of the old stuff (and new stuff as well) just keeps working and working and working.
Still slow? During boot, it may simply be taking longer for the system to check all that ram. Also, I had a question, is your cpu up to all that new ram? It looks like it should be if it's a good...
I used mine in systems that I ultimately donated to my son's school. It has been quite a few years now. They are probably in a junk heap somewhere now. I still have a couple of chips around,...
I've been using the last RC on my 4 year-old C2D 2.0 laptop with a SSD drive, and it is quite awesome actually. Amazingly fast, and I am used to how fast a new build on a SSD runs, and this runs...
I had an unlocked Barton 2500 that I ran at 13 X 200 = 2.6GHz back in 2004. It was just awesome. And it was stabled. Used a kt-600 Albatron mobo. I loved albys, sorry to see them go.

Well, they have had some reshuffling at management lately. One can only hope. Also, AMD is doing just fine with video cards, they make great cards, no problem there. They are also doing some good...
Great pictures. Looks like all the drawers in our laundry room where I have way too many old components stored away. :D

No TRIM in vista. Tried it myself for all sorts of reasons, and pretty quickly decided to install Win 8. Did all this on a 4 year-old laptop a few mnths back. Could not be happier with win8 + an...
memtest places minimal demands on any vid card. It probably even works with an old Hercule card. I cannot imagine that memtest had anything to do with that vid card dying.

The one odd thing about that whole presentation, which has been almost a month ago, is how long a wait before they put it out. the non i5 version comes out first, and it comes out when Win8 comes...
I have a Compaq Presario from 1999 that I upgraded everything except the Super 7 motherboard, and I replaced the K6-II 380 and upgraded to a K6-III 450 that I overclocked to 550 and 600 and it still...
Happened to read this article this morning on speed differences between Win 7 and Win 8. Interesting.

I'll try transferring files to my USB and see what sort of speed. Since my system is a laptop, the video drivers are less relevant, though it does have a dedicated ati 2600 video card if my memory...
You're a trooper, dong that for a month. MS should show some gratitude and send you free copies of Win 7 and 8.

I happened to watch that video from above and I noticed that they made reference to a key on the Surface keyboard that is apparently unique for Metro. That could be interesting and perhaps will fill...
Okay, I beat up on the Surface a bit the first day it came out. I finally watched this:

and now I definitely want the Pro version with the i5 chip. ...
