Yes I would upgrade the PS as well. Around 500 is a good choice considering that you will go either single or dual core or upgrade later to dual and possibly another video card.

    Yes it should fit...
  2. Re: Proverbial "Upgrading: what to buy?" thread

dangtx brings up a good question on how soon you want to upgrade.....I would add do you want top of the line or just a good performer.

Not a big fan here of sli in a cost vs performance ratio but...

Is the drive noisy.....clicking, beeping or loud whir?

If so this is likely mechanical failure. You could try tapping on the drive or putting it in the freezer for a few hours and trying it.

I have yet to see any SATA hard drive or optical drive with an actual interface issue. What I mean by that is the drive itself.

There have been various issues in the past with...

  8. Re: Notebook: 5400rpm 16MB cahce or 7200 8MB cache?

Sounds like a good deal. Add a nice drive and some more RAM and you should be humming along.

Sorry Robert3 for the confusion we had changed some terms around there.

I think as BWM mentioned....the application can really make a difference on how resources are utilized. A database program or Photoshop are two examples.
