    Intel Core i5 question

I just bought a system kit from Newegg that is based on the Intel Core i5 4670K. It has been a long time since my last build with an Athlon XP-M, which still had pins on the CPU. So this new set-up...

Re: Problem logging into my Linksys router

    I just solved the problem.

I forgot that the last time that I logged into the router that I reset the login to use a secured login (https://192.168.1.1/). I just tried adding the s and I logged...

Re: Problem logging into my Linksys router

I'm sorry but I must have confused the issue. I WAS having a problem with wireless access on one laptop, but that problem went away when I rebooted the router. Wireless access is no longer a...

Re: Problem logging into my Linksys router

Well I rebooted the router and that let the laptop log on, so half of my problem is solved. I still can't login to the router to change settings though.

Problem logging into my Linksys router

I'm having a problem with my wireless LAN. I'm trying to log on with my laptop but it cannot get an IP address from the router (LinkSys WRT-54g). I think that I may have the allowed connections set...

How to add a networked printer in XP Pro?

I just finished a clean install of XP Pro SP3 on the machine in my sig. I need to reinstall the HP 2430n LaserJet printer, but I'm not having much luck. The new printer wizard in Printers and Faxes...

    Re: Recommend Setting for NF7 S V2.0

Since you don't specify which setting you are looking for, I'm going to take a wild guess here.

Set the CPU multiplier at 10.0, voltage at 1.55, FSB at 195. Try default memory settings first. If...

    Re: Overclocking ABIT NF7-s v2

These numbers confirm what I suspected - that mine was running hotter than it should. At 10.5x242 and vcore at 1.70, after 3 hours on Prime 95 I was showing 55 deg C. I need to reinstall my HSF, or...

    Re: Overclocking ABIT NF7-s v2

The video seems to go along with the FSB speed. I don't have any exact comparisons but it is obviously faster - in the range of 25% better. 25% means a lot on a video encode of a 1 hour video.

    Re: Overclocking ABIT NF7-s v2

I do video editing, but I'm not into gaming so I can't comment on 3D stablity. I just ran Prime95 for 3 or 4 hours - all stable - but I didn't like the temps so I cut back. I'm running the 2T...

    Re: Overclocking ABIT NF7-s v2

I have an XPM 2600 running at 2300 on air (9.5 X 242) so I would expect similar results from the XPM 2500. I also tried 10.5 X 242 = 2541. Although it was stable, the temp got into the high 50s on...

Re: Run a stand alone copy of Windows from a CD

Correct me if I am wrong here, but I was under the impression that you have to manually load most drivers when installing Linux. Are you saying that Linux has native driver support for more hardware...

Run a stand alone copy of Windows from a CD

Maybe this is old news, but I thought it was pretty cool.

Re: NF7 ver 2.0. Easy Ram Question

My manual says "We suggest you to install DDR SDRAM modules from DIMM 3 to DIMM 1 sockets in order." So wouldn't that be sockets 3 and 2 for 2 sticks in dual channel?

Re: NF7-S: Which Tic Tac bios to use?

Once again you are right. I was only through the first 3 tests of Memtest 86 when I posted the 250 FSB. That test #5 is a ball buster. Had to cut back to 240 @ 3.0, 3, 3, 11 with 2.8 volts. I...
