    Re: Building a OSX PC?

    I've installed OS X on my girlfriend's AM2 system (not 2+) for her - 64 x2 5600+, Gigabyte GA-MA69GM-S2H, 2GB ddr2-800, 160GB WD SATA, evga 8600GT (512MB gddr3). I used the Leo4All images, did a...

    Re: AMD 125 watt Motherboard?

It's not a 7xx series chipset-based board, but I've had good luck so far with the gigabyte ga-ma69gm-s2h. My girl and I both have one - she started off with a 2.8GHz windsor, and I started with a...
  3. Re: x2 5000+ black edition OC... suggestions please

I've noticed, at least on my setup, that the core temps tend to be anywhere from 13' below the socket reported temp (at idle), to about 8' below (once the chip is working and "warmed up").
  4. Re: x2 5000+ black edition OC... suggestions please

Wow, very nice! Is your chipset passively cooled? That's very impressive!
  5. Re: x2 5000+ black edition OC... suggestions please

Ooof - I are stupid - I use HWMonitor to read my motherboard's 'socket' temperature, not the core temps themselves. I should've mentioned this. Your temps seem pretty high to me, presuming that the...
  6. Re: x2 5000+ black edition OC... suggestions please

I've got a 5000+ BE, and I can verify 3GHz on air. Unfortunately, with my particular CPU, 3GHz is about all I can get, no matter how I go about it.

No doubt someone has (or will) mention Core Temp...

Re: Is AMD Virtually Skipping 65nm for 45nm?

I think AMD is going to move to 65nm with the 'griffin' processor, while all current mobile procs are 90nm. Supposedly the griffin will be a dual-core with 1M of L2.

I'd sure like to see 65nm with...

Re: Is AMD Virtually Skipping 65nm for 45nm?

A 65nm K10 dual-core chip with 1M (or 2M, since we're wishing, wth) would be sweet. Label it as a Barcelona dual-core Opteron - I think there's still plenty of life left in the high...

Re: Is AMD Virtually Skipping 65nm for 45nm?

I'd really like to see the K10 dual cores on 65nm - I think by the time AMD gets to the point where they've replaced the Athlon x2 line with the K10 architecture, they'll have things down pretty...

    Re: Ga-ma78gm-s2h

Argh, that was the setup I wanted to run, but at the time I built my rig (two weeks before the 780 was announced, three? somewhere in there), there was no 'official' announcement for the MA78GM, and...

    Re: AMD Opteron 1222 3.0GHz

I've got a 5000+ BE in a non-OC board (gigabyte ga-ma69gm-s2h); I say non-OC because i cannot adjust the processor or mem voltage. Right out of the box, using a Zalman 9500NT cooler, I got 15x200....

Yay 780G!! Darn it all - I *knew* I should've waited another two weeks instead of picking up that 690G board!! Ah, well :D

    Re: Athlon 64 x2 5000+ Black Edition

Over the weekend I stopped my hemming and hawing and put together a nice little gaming rig using a 5000+ BE and a Gigabyte GA-MA69GM-S2H. I have a Zalman CNPS9500NT for cooling, and am using 4GB...

    Re: Gigabyte GA-MA69GM PCI-express help

I just put together another system for myself on Saturday using another GA-MA69GM-S2H. It does indeed have an option for disabling the onboard video in the BIOS, but it is not required. I put my...

    Re: Gigabyte GA-MA69GM PCI-express help

When we put together my girlfiend's computer (MA69GM-S2H), we just plopped the 8600 into the slot and did the first boot that way. I don't remember needing to configure the BIOS, but perhaps my...

    Re: GA-MA770-DS3 Experience?

Awesome and very informative - thank you! I am planning on eventually stepping up to Phenom (thus the selection of an AM2+ part when I could easily get by with something like the GA-MA69GM-S2H, which...

    GA-MA770-DS3 Experience?

I'm getting ready to put together an AMD system to replace my current P4. I got some good advice on processor selection, and I'd like to see if anyone has any experience with Gigabyte's GA-MA770-DS3...

    Re: Phenom for gaming?

Thanks for all of the advice - I think you're right, Hatecrime69, with regards to l2 cache size. Given the averages of all of the reports I've seen of the 5000+BE on air, 3.2 is pretty much a given,...

    Re: Phenom for gaming?

    I guess I should've been more specific:

    9600 BE vs 5600+ (90nm 1M) vs x2 5000+ BE.

TGM:Yeah, I read that - a little light on hard facts ;) I suspect I'll probably end up with the x2 5000+ BE or...

    Phenom for gaming?

I'm going to be replacing my decrepit 3Ghz Prescott next week, and I'm waffling between buying a Windsor x2 (2.8 or 3.0) or the Phenom 9600BE. I had considered the Brisbane 5000BE, but since my rig...

    Re: Gigabyte/WD1600JS Boot issues

Thanks for the advice - I poked around in the BIOS, couldn't find anything related to spread spectrum (or very much at all in regards to the SATA buses, except the mode they're operating in). I'll...

    Gigabyte/WD1600JS Boot issues

I put together a compy for my girlfriend (well, specified the parts, and supervised the assembly as she put it together). It's a decent little Athlon 64 X2 system, but it has a tendency to initially...
