  1. Re: Starting from scratch do you recommend Win 10 64bit or Linux?

Linux does take a little more time and effort to get everything just right. There are a few distros that are more user friendly in terms of setup than others eg opensuse. You should at least get a...
  2. Re: building a system for graphic arts student

A bigger HDD would be better. Those graphics files can get pretty big and fill up a drive quick. i5 would also be preferable.

    Re: NFL Playoffs!

If the Super Bowl ends up being a 49ers/Ravens matchup, it'll be the first one where the opposing coaches happen to be real brothers too.
  4. Re: Official Feedback Thread - Forums upgrade and style

Could you have the sticky threads be a different color than the regular threads? Kind of like how the old format had it? Kind of hard for me to see what's sticky and not sometimes. Thank you.
  5. Re: Anyone still have their old AMD XP's around? What have you done with yours?

I don't have an XP but I do have the older 1ghz Thunderbird. Still going strong after 12 years. I relegated it to watching movies and doing basic office tasks.

    Adjust range of wireless routers

    Hello,

I was wondering can you adjust the range of a wireless router. What I mean is, not to be broadcasting at whatever the max range is. I'm looking at the Netgear N300. Thank you.
  9. Re: Where can I physically try a Lenovo Thinkpad?

Have you tried Office Depot? They sell some thinkpad models. You can also check their reseller/vendors section for businesses that handle them. Local computer store has a few of their models on...

    Re: Seasonic PSU

Thank you. I noticed in another thread you mention PSU of other companies made by Seasonic. Is there a way to tell which ones are made by them without having to open them up?

    Re: Anybody build model rockets?

I remember Estes had a rocket with a camera payload. It was a 110 camera.

I did hear that there were more model rocket companies back around the 60's and 70's.

    Kingston ValueRam

    Hello,

I was just wondering anyone have any opinions on Kingston's ValueRam. Are they any good? Looking at some DDR3 and don't want to buy new ram every couple of years because it goes bad. Thanks

Re: Athlon II x4 vs Phenom II x4

Thank you. Very timely and helpful article.

I wonder is this a typo on the second page of the review since the first half of 2010 has come and gone:

Perhaps the reason why the X2 is so...

Re: Athlon II x4 vs Phenom II x4

I actually read the article geekkyyy. Thanks all the same. That's the one that made me ask on here. From all the replies here, I think I'll get a Phenom quad. Might as well have L3 and not need it...

Re: Athlon II x4 vs Phenom II x4

I'm not that serious about the video editing. More like a hobby thing to edit home movies. That's why I'm looking at quad cores. I can't justify the cost for a 6 core yet.
    I plan to stay stock...

Re: Athlon II x4 vs Phenom II x4

I think you may have misread my initial post. I was asking about the difference between the athlon II quads and phenom II quads. Either way, you are right about about getting a quad core. Thanks

Re: Athlon II x4 vs Phenom II x4

I'm looking at the 635 of the Athlons and 945 and 955 for the Phenoms right now. I'm leaning toward the Phenoms right now but just wanted opinions between the athlon and phenom quad cores.

    Re: Anybody build model rockets?

Nice rockets. I used to build rockets many moons ago also. Also got them from Estes. They sure don't have the selection they used to have in the early 80's.
