  1. Re: K8V SE Deluxe, K8N-E Deluxe or A8V Deluxe?

Interesting! The 3200+ may be quite the bargain right now. I like to be as future proof as possible, and here in the US, I have been able to get the prices on these two boards to within a fairly...
  2. Re: K8V SE Deluxe, K8N-E Deluxe or A8V Deluxe?

Thanks! It sounds like maybe the A8V rev 2.0 is the way to go. The prices seem pretty close, so why not go for the additional bandwidth?
  3. K8V SE Deluxe, K8N-E Deluxe or A8V Deluxe?

I am thinking about doing a mobo upgrade, and these two are near the top of my list. They appear to be quite comparable in most regards, with different chipsets (VIA vs NVIDIA) and different...

    Re: GA-7DXR+ Fastest CPU?????

Well, I finally tore my system apart, took the mobo out, unbolted the cooler tower, and got the #'s off the CPU. Here's what they are:

    AXDA2600DKV3C 9321746280678
    AIUGB 0244UPCW

    Does that...

Re: Best video card for GA-7DXR+

That's probably a good idea (the waiting around until December thing). The 9600XT is an 8x AGP unit, right? I think my board is only 4x. Would the 9600XT still be a big step up from the GeForce3...

    Re: GA-7DXR+ Fastest CPU?????

I did clear the CMOS by removing the battery. Maybe I should leave it out longer and try it again. I will triple check the "auto" settings. ;)

Thanks for the info on the black label. It did...

    Best video card for GA-7DXR+

I'm currently trying to squeak out a bit more performance from my current system, and I was wondering what would be the best/fastest card that my old 7dxr+ could run. It supports AGP Pro format. I...

    Re: GA-7DXR+ Fastest CPU?????

I have this same chip, but can't get the multiplier any higher than 12.5, which makes it think that it is a 2000+. If you figure out a way to make it work and run at a 16x multiplier, please let me...

Re: Replaced CPU, and PC is not recognizing...

Good point. But what life has the BIOS update given me, if it only lets me run a 2600+ as a 2000+? I have been dealing with Gigabyte and doing everything that they have told me to do, but it still...

    Re: GA-7DXR+ Fastest CPU?????

I just installed a 2600+ in my 7DXR+, and it seems to work just fine, except for the fact that in "auto" mode, the board doesn't seem to recognize that the multiplier should be 16x, not 12.5x. The...

Re: Replaced CPU, and PC is not recognizing...

I'll try to do that. I was in a hurry to swap out my power supply and install the new chip/cooler tower, and I foolishly forgot to write down the numbers then. I think I may have to remove the mobo...

Re: Replaced CPU, and PC is not recognizing...

It does have dual BIOS, so maybe this is an issue. But it does show F9 on bootup.

Re: Replaced CPU, and PC is not recognizing...

I believe that I have tried all of your suggestions above. My only doubt is whether I tried the "auto" setting on the mobo with both the CPU Freq. "enabled" and "disabled." I know that I tried the...

Re: Replaced CPU, and PC is not recognizing...

Yes, I am not necessarily at the cutting edge of technology here. :p Just trying to get the most from my current mobo.

The piece of information that I am lacking is what dip switch...

Re: Replaced CPU, and PC is not recognizing...

Okay, I did a little digging, and it looks like the multiplier is 16, so do I set the CPU clock for 133, or disabled? I have the board switch set for 133.

    Thanks, Tom.

Re: Replaced CPU, and PC is not recognizing...

I think so. But I did buy my 2600+ in the OEM form, so I don't have any confirmation of the multiplier. Does anyone know where I can find this?

Thank you for the reply, Tom.

Replaced CPU, and PC is not recognizing...

I have a GA-7DXR+, and originally it had an Athlon XP 2000+. I just upgraded to a 2600+ (266 FSB), and all seemed to go well, except for the fact that my PC seems to think that it still has the old...
