  1. Re: Using Creative Xmod wireless audio & remote with Winamp

So, this was a few years back, but in case any others come looking, I did eventually find the solution:
To allow Xmod units to control winamp, check the "enable default multimedia key support" box...

    Re: Memory compatibility question

Thanks for the info. Can you clarify what the meaning of "density" is in this context? Does that mean each stick should be the same size, or does that refer to something else?

    Thank you!

    Memory compatibility question

I used to know all this, but it's been way too long. . .

I have a PC built on the MSI X58 PLATINUM SLI motherboard. Currently I have 6gb of RAM installed (2Gx3|CORS TR3X6G1600C8D R)....
  5. Re: Help me decypher and use speedfan with my MSI x58 Plantinum?

Thanks for that info. Unfortunately, I was unable to find the MSI X58 Platinum in their list of motherboards. (Also please note that the system info in the "my system" tab is WAY outdated . . . that...
  6. Help me decypher and use speedfan with my MSI x58 Plantinum?

I just downloaded Speedfan because I was hoping it would be able regulate my fans to reduce noise when temps were lower . . . .

I have two issues. First, I don't really know how to use the...
  7. Using Creative Xmod wireless audio & remote with Winamp

    Hey all,

I've got a Creative Xmod Wireless setup to play music wirelessly from my computer to my stereo. After trying a few different devices, this one is definitely the winner - it works...
  8. Re: Possible to use wireless router to play audio from PC to Stereo?

Hi, thanks for the suggestions. I looked into the Motorola, and it's very close to what I want, but it sounds from what I'm reading about it that it's not supported on XP (or presumably newer...
  9. Possible to use wireless router to play audio from PC to Stereo?

I have a spare wireless router, and I would love to know if there is some way to use it to create a connection between my PC and my home stereo. I know that there are expensive items out there that...

Re: Back to my old faithful . . .

I don't think so. The stereo is a fairly passive member of this equation. It has inputs that it sits there waiting to get a signal into so it can turn it into music. The bluetooth device is...

Re: Back to my old faithful . . .

It's actually the other way around. Look at the previous page (5) of the link you sent . . . I'm trying to use it like that, only with my laptop in place of the phone. My stereo doesn't have...
  13. Re: Help setting up Sony Bluetooth audio adapter (HWS-BTA2W)

I'm about due to nuke & pave on this machine anyway, so maybe when I do that something I disabled or messed up long ago will get fixed . . . but this totally sucks!!!
  14. Re: Help setting up Sony Bluetooth audio adapter (HWS-BTA2W)

Yeah, it shows up as HWS-BTA2W (doesn't say Sony).
  15. Re: Help setting up Sony Bluetooth audio adapter (HWS-BTA2W)

Well . . . I can't imagine that my laptop has bluetooth built in but doesn't have the ability to both send and receive via bluetooth. And the minimal documentation that does exist for the unit makes...
  16. Re: Help setting up Sony Bluetooth audio adapter (HWS-BTA2W)

Uhm. I'm not sure I understand the question, but my unit does both send and receive. It has a little switch, and I have it set to receive.

Back to my old faithful . . .

Hey friends, been a while since I've posted here.
First of all, big warning: :topic: :topic: :topic:
I'm posting here because back in the day, this was where all the most helpful people were,...
  18. Re: Help setting up Sony Bluetooth audio adapter (HWS-BTA2W)

I tried that a couple of days ago, actually - no change.
What's the deal? I can't even figure out how this is SUPPOSED to work, so I can try to troubleshoot it. The thing didn't come with any...
  19. Re: Help setting up Sony Bluetooth audio adapter (HWS-BTA2W)

Is there a particular windows service needed for this kind of connection that maybe got disabled ages ago? ANY other ideas???
  20. Re: Help setting up Sony Bluetooth audio adapter (HWS-BTA2W)

    Anyone? . . . .Bueller?
  21. Re: Help setting up Sony Bluetooth audio adapter (HWS-BTA2W)

Well, bluetooth is enabled on my laptop, and I can detect the existence of the device as long as they are both on and in range, so in that respect, they are paired and ready to go. I just can't...
  22. Re: Help setting up Sony Bluetooth audio adapter (HWS-BTA2W)

The little switch on the device is set to "RX" rather than "TX", which is the right setting for receiving according to the manual.

I'm not sure I understand the second question. Bluetooth had...
  23. Re: Help setting up Sony Bluetooth audio adapter (HWS-BTA2W)

No . . . my laptop has built-in bluetooth, so I paired the laptop with the unit that way, and then the unit is plugged in to my home stereo using a little audio cable. I guess I would have assumed...
  24. Re: Help setting up Sony Bluetooth audio adapter (HWS-BTA2W)

Hmm, well I had assumed I would get all windows sounds going through, but really I'd be just as happy if I could just get winamp to do it, and maybe VLC. Is there a setting within the programs to...
  25. Re: Help setting up Sony Bluetooth audio adapter (HWS-BTA2W)

Hmm, well it seems to be a little different with a laptop. I have the devices paired, but my computer doesn't seem to know that I want my audio to go over the bluetooth connection instead of the...
