Back after a 5 year hiatus

I've thrown my hat back in the ring and have a singe rig with a GTX 1060 folding once again. May add more machines over the next few weeks.

    Re: I'm back again

Thanks folks. Good to be back. More hardware coming online very soon. Don't think I can take my spot back from keelingj, but we'll see.

    I'm back again

Now that the weather is cooled off and I don't have to pay for folding AND extra AC to get rid of the extra heat, I've started up a few rigs again. Probably around 70K PPD for now.

Re: Slow frame times on i7-970

I've reloaded it several times now and I think it's something with my hardware. I ordered some more RAM to try, but for now, I'm back to Regular SMP on Windows.

Re: Slow frame times on i7-970

No, I never installed it because Musky said it was not necessary for single socket machines. I've got it stripped and running in the CLI and the best I get is 61 min TPF @ 4GHz. I don't know what...

Re: Slow frame times on i7-970

Still not right  Getting 61 min TPF on a 6903. I'll barely make the deadline and only 52K PPD. And this is at 4GHz! I don't know what's wrong and Linux doesn't make it easy to figure out with...

Re: Slow frame times on i7-970

I think I figured it out. I backed up the fah folder and reinstalled Windows 7 to verify my overclock was good. Then I reinstalled Ubuntu10 alongside W7. I followed Musky's guide again and I found...

Re: Slow frame times on i7-970

That's why I posted. I was only getting about 48K PPD. I started the client from the recovery console and it seems much faster now. I'm running a 6901 now for about 28K PPD. That seem right?

    Slow frame times on i7-970

I got the new rig up and running under Ubuntu and it's folding but not nearly as fast as I think it should be. It took 67 minutes/frame to finish the 6903 and I have it overclocked to 3.6GHz. I...

    Re: Bigadv shortage?

I was still having problems getting both Remote Desktop and the folder sharing working correctly with Ubuntu 10.04. So once again I let the client finish the WU it was running and shut down. I...

    Re: Bigadv shortage?

Thanks for the link. I let it finish the WU it was working on and then reloaded Ubuntu 10.04. I just couldn't get the remote desktop working under 11.10 and I really need that since this box will...

    Re: Bigadv shortage?

I have it up and running @ 3.6 on an ASUS Sabertooth X58 board. I installed Ubuntu 11.10 and had issues with FAHControl not starting and I finally found out that it was a Python version issue...

Damn, just when I ordered the 970! Hopefully I can still pull down some BigBeta WUs. :)

I've been out of the loop for a while. Which units are Bigadv, still 6900-6904?

    Back in the Pond!

I'm back with my main rig (upgraded a bit, of course) and my Home Server rig so far. I'll probably put together another rig or two over the next month or so. :D

Re: bigadv vs bigadv + gpu vs smp + gpu

Correct on the PPD breakdown. The SB is an i7-2600k @ 4.5GHz running on an ASUS P8P67. I just discovered today that I was being bitten by the SB chipset bug. That rig wasn't transmitting the results...

Re: bigadv vs bigadv + gpu vs smp + gpu

Points wise, the GPU's were nearly a wash. I think I was squeaking out an extra 4-5K PPD. The difference in power was huge, and my wallet is hurting from my latest electric bill, so I ended up...
