    Re: Just buy a Dell?

    >>He just needs to learn.

But maybe that's not the best solution in this case.

For some people there is no drive to learn or they are just not adept at learning what you need to know to be...

    Re: Just buy a Dell?

If you have no idea what went wrong and you are RMAing every part, then IMHO the better idea is to buy the Dell. I'm not trying to insult you, but I assume you want an honest answer since you posted...

Re: IE problem - weirdest problem I've had

    Is this on IE7?

I had a customer with an IE7 problem that I couldn't figure out. It installs pretty quickly so I just re-installed it and then it was fine.

    Re: some kinda bios error

    Have you tried Safe Mode?

Try an XP Restore Point. See if you can fix it by going back to a working config.

That doesn't look like a valid website for Toshiba BIOS updates.

    Run some virus...

    Re: Another PC diagnosis question

It could be anything on a 6 year old box. :)

Open it up and blow the dust out of it, it may be overheating. Make sure the CPU heatsink is not packed with dust and check that all fans are...

    Re: emachine t6542 smells

Was there a protective piece of plastic film on the bottom of the CPU heatsink?

It may be a good idea to pull the CPU heatsink and take a look at it. Use fresh AS5 or other good compound to...

Re: help with new system build please!

The memory is maybe suspect then. Also, the default RAM voltage on many DDR2 mobos is 1.8v, but that sometimes isn't high enough for some sticks of DDR2. When that happens, the system will not POST...

Re: help with new system build please!

    Dave, Bigdaddy is right.

This is a hardware problem. Windows drivers are software and have nothing to do with the system being able to power up and POST correctly.

    The system should power up...
  12. Re: Replaced cpu and psu and am having problems

I can't see why the BIOS would be bad simply from saving the date/time to the CMOS RAM. That does not affect the BIOS chip at all.

Check for bent pins on the new CPU.
See if the system still runs...

BartPE (WinXP on a bootable CD) would be my suggestion on this as well.

    Re: E-Mail Server Woes

Most e-mail systems are not designed to handle attachments that large. Usually you would setup FTP or another way to handle such files.

    Re: Waht is best 2?

You lose a bit of power on every extra connector.

If it's one of those two PSU molex into one 4-pin cables for the video card, then that is better. You're providing...
