Re: Ryzen - What is your planned build?

To put it simply, AMD gurantees nothing over ddr4-2666 speeds. Depending on DIMMs and density, you could be running as lows as 2133. Any speed above that is not guaranteed, and backed only by the...

Re: Ryzen - What is your planned build?

Same dilemma. I hesitate between the b350 tomahawk or the gigabyte ab350 gaming 3. Only 10 bux difference.

Asus doesn't seem to have any quality mid range offerings.

MSI b350 tomahawk vs PC mate

Anyone seen these two boards on msi's web site.

They look identical minus the pretty LED lights for the PC mate 4. One is marketed as gamer board the other as business oriented.

    Any reason I...

Planning a build too but prices are nuts in Canada right now. I'm going to San Francisco in May. Any stores there worth checking out?

Re: Component list for new Ryzen build

Very similar to what I want. 1700 and b350 board.

Tell us how it goes. I've been holding back for fear of mobo/memory compatibility issues. From what I read, the default Intel ddr4 timings don't...

Re: Failing component PSU or Board

Only other PSU I have is a 7 year old Seasonic 550 which has been sitting in the basement since I bought this one. I doubt it could drive the current rig.

    Failing component PSU or Board

Recently MY pc started acting up for no reason. When trying to power on, it will start up and shutdown just before the POST screen. Sometimes it will get to teh POST screen and shutoff. This only...

    Re: Moving away from Amd

Why abandon AMD? The fx-8350 is less than 200$ and runs multiple VMs fine.

Re: What would you build for a VM Build

I use an amd fx-8350, 8 gigs of ram and an SSD. If you want overkill, an i7-4770 and 16 gigs of RAM should do it.

    Re: Hello pond dwellers.

AMD cards are quite impressive now adays. My old 7870 is pulling about 60000 PPD by itself. Unfortunately, the stupid *coin miners are eating up stock.

Question about where to plug in hydro h55

I have a corsair hydro h55 cooling an fx-8350 CPU. My board is an Asus m5a97 evo.

The h55 has two plugs. The fan is plugged in to the CPU fan header (CPU_FAN). The water pump is currently plugged...

TRIM support in AHCI mode with AMD drivers

What is the current status of TRIM support using AMD drivers in AHCI mode for SSDs? Last I checked, it was advised to stay with windos 7 default drivers, but my new board (Asus m5a97 evo) needs the...

    Re: Help With Upgrade

Good luck finding a 939 CPU, but they do exist in dual core flavor (i.e. 3800, 4200, etc...)

Windows 7 needs 2 gigs of RAM to run smooth, ideally 4 gigs. Once again good luck finding ddr1 RAM.

Re: 1680x1050 How much to spend?

DAII seems to like the 6000 series. 6870 or 6950 would be my choice. I run DAII at high on a 5850.
  20. Re: Swapping AMD X6 for AMD X4 - How Tough a Job?

I've been running ME2 on a 1090T with no issues for 1 year. How many cores the game sees is irrelevant. The OS will distribute the workload as it sees fit.

Re: TV video data vs "internet" data

Probably because your internet provider is also a telco or cable/satellite company and they have a vested interest in preserving a medium that is increasingly irrelevant.
  22. Re: Is it time to upgrade yet, or should I wait another year or so?

Now. There was a time when they were crap. I personally had a 2 smartpowers blow on me and take down 400$ worth of parts with it.

    Re: AMD turbo technology?

Considering the prices they charge for a burrito, I'd be glad it's some kind of higher mammal meat.
