    Re: 2,500 system.

Mobo and CPU are not compatible - you need a 1155 pin socket (P67 or H67) to run a sandy bridge processor. You'll want to wait a few weeks until the mobo recall is settled though.

    A P67 or H67...
  4. Re: In need of a laptop, maybe 2 and a desktop

    What's your budget?

Personally, I'd avoid a gaming laptop due to their high initial cost and lack of upgradability.

For the wife/kids, take a look at any of the $400 dual core laptops with a...

  6. Re: Prime 95 - Each core runs at different speed

    Some more info:

When it crashes in GTA4, I get a BSOD with the following message
"a clock interrupt was not received on a secondary processor within the allocated time interval"
  7. Re: Prime 95 - Each core runs at different speed

Thanks xiz0r. Any thoughts on another benchmark or program that can help me narrow down where the problem is?
  8. Prime 95 - Each core runs at different speed

Howdy all, long time no post

I just picked up a phenom II 545, which was able to unlock to an x4. I've been testing stability, and it seems that BFBC2 works fine, but GTA4 crashes. I ran prime95...

    Re: budget rig help please

    No, they're not responsible.

It seems you have your mind made up and are only looking for validation of your choices. If that's the case, go for it and buy whatever you want. Good luck with your...

    Re: I LOVE Windows 7

Not so sure about that. I'd go with Ford v Chevy, as one may do certain things better, both do what they're supposed to do, but neither are perfect.

To bring that back to some sort of factual...

Re: Can I upgrade the budget system

There's no reason that you can't mix-n-match between different levels of the configurations on this site. If you want to add a gtx460 to the budget system, you'd want to first upgrade the PSU...

    Re: Steam Summer 2010 Sale

This sale is making me crazy....already bought 5 games and will probably buy 5 more. Wonder if I'll ever get around to playing them?
  13. Re: I hate laptops for their small monitors - can someone convince me otherwise?

I think you're answering your own question. A bigger monitor is easier to work on than a smaller monitor. Whether you'll like it is up to your preference, which nobody here can tell you. Go to the...
  14. Out of GPU folding cuz my A/C can't take it

I'm ducking out of GPU folding for a while, as my electric bill is getting a bit extreme and I'm still a student with no funds. Made a good run with it for the past year, with more points in a few...

buying this for your self or just pretending to buy?

This systems is similarly capable to what I have, and it runs bc2 very well.
  16. Re: Which socket is more future-proof? 1156 or 1366

Most AM2+ sockets are compatible with AM3 chips, such as my gigabyte 790gx am2+ and Phenom II triple core

Re: Upgade for my GTX 260 (192)?

BFBC2 has given some people with older dual core cpus a problem too. With the setup in my sig, I have great performance (same video card). I'd take a look at that first if you want to upgrade.

I recently upgraded to 8gb of 1066 ddr2. I'm running at 2.2v, but had to move the different sticks around to different slots to get it to run right though. Have hope!

  24. Re: Is this something to worry about?

Unfortunately, not every heatsink comes from the factory flat. They are almost always smooth, but will often have a shape (concave, convex, slanted) that can affect the distance between the cpu and...

Re: Battlefield: Bad Company 2 PC * Official thread *

I played a bit this morning, and it was running very well on a 20 person server. Was actually able to turn up the settings (even shadows) without a hit on fps. So far i'm pleased with the new patch.
