Re: Anyone tried using a GPU in a Xen VM?

Something ate my reply. I swore I typed one up explaining this and went into explicit detail!

Kepler's virtualization should let you map one video card to multiple VMs for acceleration. This would...

Re: Anyone tried using a GPU in a Xen VM?

Nope, it lets the VM use the GPU natively. So you'd theoretically be able to game (or 3D render) in a VM.

Anyone tried using a GPU in a Xen VM?

I'm looking at the Xen hypervisor and have noticed it lets you map GPUs to virtual machines. Has anyone here tried it? Better yet, is there anyone here with a Xen installation on hardware with an...

Re: High end build - looking for critiques

    System has been built!

    CPU: I7-3770K @ 4.2 GHZ
    CPU HSF: Cooler Master TPC-812
    Mobo: MSI MPOWER
RAM: 32 gigs of G.Skill DDR3-1866. I picked the flashy blue kind that looked the shortest.
    GPUs:...
  5. Re: New PSU - Should a wire ever cross itself on an inductor?

Alright, it appears to be fine! I thought I'd remembered that inductor wires weren't ever supposed to cross. I think my memory is mistaken. Great. I'm getting old, but at least my computer's getting...
  6. Re: New PSU - Should a wire ever cross itself on an inductor?

I actually have a PSU tester just for this purpose.
  7. New PSU - Should a wire ever cross itself on an inductor?

So I just got my Corsair H1050 in, and am doing a non-invasive visual examination because the rest of my system has yet to get in.

    This is a huge PSU.

I noticed as I was looking at it that two...
  8. Re: Broken tiller w/ Briggs and Stratton engine - possibly the gearbox?

I got it started, and it's slingshotting the belt off then mocking me. So part replacement number one is going to be the belt! :D
  9. Broken tiller w/ Briggs and Stratton engine - possibly the gearbox?

    :D

So I have a Craftsman tiller (model number 917.29425 I think) with a Briggs and Stratton engine in it. One family member alleges that the transmission is messed up. Said family member also had...
  10. Cooling a Tesla c1060 in a desktop case

I have the opportunity to get ahold of a Tesla C1060 to use with my 3D modeling ventures, the issue is it has a monster of a passive HS on it. I'm curious as to if anyone else has been, uh, daring...

Re: High end build - looking for critiques

Allegedly the Titan's double precision performance is DOA, which completely destroys my interest in them. I've never really been partisan with computer parts in the past - I'd not pick sides between...

Re: High end build - looking for critiques

The first thing that comes to mind as a good general benchmark is Luxmark, http://www.luxrender.net/wiki/LuxMark . I think you've been using it already.

For Nvidia cards, www.blender.org 's Cycles...

Re: High end build - looking for critiques

I noticed something weird. On one G45 mobo, newegg's detailed specs report that there are only 2xPCI-e 3.0 x16 slots, with 1xPCI-E 2.0, http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813130645...
  14. Re: Mid-tower case that's good for traveling?

I'm liking the looks of this! I'll likely order it tomorrow if no one else has other suggestions!
  15. Mid-tower case that's good for traveling?

I have a system that's going to serve either as a server and secondary system - or come with me across country if I move into a dorm and have to bounce back and forth a few times a year.

    I've been...

    Re: TES V: Skyrim

I spend my nights learning to draw instead of modding Skyrim, I'm certain plenty of their potential future content creators are looking in other directions as well.

They make less money off of it...

Re: Looking for an indestructable headset

I went ahead and got one of these: http://www.amazon.com/Plantronics-GameCom-380-Stereo-Headset/dp/B006ZS5AQA/ref=pd_sim_e_5

I can't quite comment on audio quality yet. I don't love them, but I...

High end build - looking for critiques

I'm working on a build that I'm planning on doing in a few separate rounds. The first round is to get the mobo/cpu/ram/PSU/case together so I have something that'll post. I have about $1000 for this,...

Re: Looking for a 750-850W PSU

Yep! This is why I dropped $120 on a Seasonic 550W 7 years ago, and run the thing near 24/7.

Before I dive into in depth reviews doing analysis of the minutia, do you know off the top of your...

    Looking for a 750-850W PSU

    Yo!

    I need a new PSU.

Last time I went PSU shopping, Seasonic were untouchable gods at the head of mount Olympus, Antec wasn't far behind, and everyone else was a gamble. I got on newegg...

    Looking for an indestructable headset

I made a mistake. I made a Guild Wars 2 guild with a couple of geek friends who wanted to increase their in game storage. We called it "Hoarders Of Shiny Things". Up until two weeks ago everything...
  22. Where do I go to compare anti-glare coatings?

I'm in the market for new monitors. Mine are now the better part of a decade old, and they're showing it.

I'm looking at IPS screens. I notice a lot of people complain about grainy anti-glare...
  23. Re: Program to capture sequential screenshots automatically

  24. Re: Official Feedback Thread - Forums upgrade and style

It may just be that my monitor is getting old and tired, but the text is not high contrast with the off-white background color in the threads. It's a bit harder to read things. You might increase the...
