    problem solved. going from socket A to A64, i didn't know about connecting the 4-pin power connector. :o plugged that in, and everything's working. :cool: thanks for the replies.

    the install *is* text based, but basically if you know how to use cfdisk and can edit a text file, it's really a very easy install. post back if you have any problems. gl - arch is great!
