  1. Re: LeaderBoard Last Updated May 8th, 2017 but its almost August don't we need an upd

AMD chipsets and new Threadrippers are about all that's changed since the chart was updated. RTX cards are still very new to recommend at this stage, IMO.
  2. Re: realistic expectations, life span of a cpu.

LGA2011 boards have proven to be a good investment at or below MSRP for a while now, due to the cheap availability of high-core-count Xeons as a socket ages, and DDR3 being more affordable during the...

I should be there... Nothing conflicting in my schedule yet, knock on wood!
  4. Re: Good to-do and reminder software, any recommendation?

I use Trello for reminders, project tracking and shopping lists. It has excellent native apps for Windows Store, iOS and Android. I haven't used the web interface, but I imagine it's good too.

    It...

    Re: Video card replacement

It should work fine. The GT710 is my go-to card for older systems when the user needs analog video output. I've had no issues on Intel systems from that era.
  6. Re: OC problems. CPU-Z disagrees with bios settings

This is normal behavior when CPUs are idling. There are multiple clock speeds the CPU can step through at low load levels.

I haven't used Real Temp, so I can't speak to the accuracy of its...
  7. Re: Handheld Ethernet Speed Test Checking Device?

It might be worth a try: https://www.mobilefun.co.uk/blog/2017/11/does-the-note-8-support-usb-c-ethernet-adapters/

I haven't heard anything about real-world speeds through Ethernet adapters on...

Re: Abit NF7-S Bios & Romsip Mod by -=Merlin=-

I went from an 8K3A right to an NF7 v2.0. I haven't appreciated any newer boards as much as those. The NF7 adorns the wall above my workbench, and I just noticed some of the caps are bulging, so...

    Re: Slow SSD

Do you have any other indications the SSD is slowing down? You can use a benchmark like HD Tune or CrystalDiskMark to see if the SSD is performing in the ballpark of where it should be. In many cases...

Re: Windows 10 Creators Edition Upgrade.

Control Panel is still around for the legacy settings that haven't been merged into the Settings app yet. I'm using Control Panel less and less with every major Win10 update, and the Settings app has...

What model is the SSD? See if there are firmware updates available--this is a known issue with some older Samsung drives.

I've been using Firefox since Firebird 0.7, other than a one-month fling with Chrome almost a decade ago. The changes in 56 and 57 are the biggest improvements I've seen in years! I love the new...

Not sure what's going on there. I just tested the link in a Private Browsing tab (so no Amazon session) and it just redirected me to the product page on amazon.com. When I have an active Amazon...

I use this model regularly for SATA disks, and it works fine on my USB3.0 ports: https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B00DQJME7Y/

    Re: Computer build

Solid build. I really like that case and power supply. That CPU is nice and zippy for a dad-build, but its bang-for-the-buck is pretty low. $45 more gets you a quad-core i5-7500 which turbos to...

Re: PC build for World of Warcraft

Last year I built a couple systems specifically for running WoW, and used AMD APUs. The last one was an A10-7860K, which I built in Nov. 2016. It's perfectly adequate to run WoW at 1080p, and I'm...
