    $129 Geforce 4 Pre-Order @ Best Buy

Since you guys have given so freely I will return the favor.

Anyone interested in a Visiontek GF4 Ti4600 at 1/3 the retail cost? Me too.

Best Buy seems to be the only one pre-ordering at a discount. Everywhere else seems to be charging $399.99.

Eveyone who is able to get an order in please reply to this so I can see how effective this post was.

    Oh, the link...

    Enjoy!

I just tried to get a second one and it wouldn't let me. Maybe one per customer or is the link officially dead?

I jumped and ordered one, but I am afraid I got the link from HardOcp, LOL. I have a copy of my order with an order number, for $129.99.
We will see if they honor it or not.

Yeah, good going. If you have a hardcopy of a printout receipt. They might have to honor it, website glitch or not. I'm still pondering it, sitting with my shopping cart open with a $129 ti4600 in it.

What should I do! I have 130, so if they honor it, no prob. But what if they demand 400, I Don't have that...what to do!

They cant "demand" $400, they will just give you the option to cancel.

Nooo...too late, I hesitated. Now an error message comes up because they deleted that one from the database. Now a new one is entered, under a different ID # with the correct price.

They are protected against the typo, I was just scanning their TOS:

"Under no circumstances shall Best Buy or its associates be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages that result from the use of or inability to use the BestBuy.comô site, including but not limited to reliance by a user on any information obtained at the BestBuy.comô site, or that result from mistakes, omissions, interruptions, deletion of files or email, errors, defects, viruses, delays in operation or transmission, or any failure of performance, whether or not resulting from acts of God, communications failure, theft, destruction or unauthorized access to Best Buy records, programs or services."

And here's the real bad clause:

"Prices and availability are subject to change without notice. Errors will be corrected where discovered, and Best Buy reserves the right to revoke any stated offer and to correct any errors, inaccuracies or omissions (including after an order has been submitted). Best Buy may, at its own discretion, limit or cancel quantities purchased per person, per household or per order. These restrictions may include orders placed by the same BestBuy.com account, credit card, and also orders which use the same billing and/or shipping address. Notification will be sent to the e-mail and/or billing address provided should such change occur."

Ouch... Well, we'll just have to see what happens.

I ordered one too and have the hard printout. But I suspect I will get a note saying "Sorry, our mistake". The law of contracts is that a contract is not enforcible if one of the parties knows or has reason to know that the price is a mistake and the price is so low as to be unreasonable. For them to sell it at that price, it is probably below the manufacturer's cost. In this case, it would be hard to argue you didn't know there was probably a mistake.

Then again.... If Best Buy wants to get amazing PR, they only have to (at their discretion, of course) say they will honor however many got orders in before the correction and they will receive a lot of positive press and word of mouth! Of course, they would limit such a "courtesy" to ONE per person, so those who tried to order bunches will be able to benefit only once. Who knows??????
