The GeForce 4 is wasted cycle to me. I'll wait for the GeForce 5 which will be a true Direct X 9 card. In the interim i will use my GeForce 3, it runs all of my games just fine.

I WILL be getting a GF4 Ti 4600. I didn't get a Geforce 3 and held on to my good old GF2 Ultra for so long to save up and buy one. My advice is to always "skip" a generation" with Nvidia cards. My GF2 Ultra is only now starting to show its age......my next card will be a GF6 (or whatever they end up calling it....the GeForce 6 Uranium cased Titanium Gold Edition 5,000,000,000 Ultra)

lol..thanks for the thoughts..the gf2 ultra is still an incredible card and i think will be remembered well in the history of great cards..in my case, i had an ocz gf2 mx400..a good, but not outstanding card like the ultra was..so i guess this is kinda my generation, a year behind of course since the gf3's came out

I agree. The GF2 Ultra is a WONDERFUL card. It didn't need DirectX 8 support, it could sledgehammer its way through the most demanding games by sheer clock speed of the processor and memory. I can play Medal of Honor with all the goodies cranked up with smooth frame rates. Of course I DO have a lot backing that card up.

Been holding out to see what would be worth the money to buy, I have wanted a Geforce 3 but haven't been able to justify the cost. Now that a new card is coming out I think I'll skip that generation, but I don't think I'll buy a GF4 until summertime just to make sure it is the card of choice at that time. My GF2 GTS still serves me well.

yep, nice card, too..was talking to a guy at radio shack today as i bought a $100 worth of fancy cables to get my video/audio out setup for this and he has a geforce2 with tv out..would love to buy a gf3 or gf4, but given he has tv out, can't really justify the cost..

    Post Next Graphics Card...

    I still can't decide...

I've been with ATi for like ever, Rage IIc, Rage Pro, Rage 128, and now Radeon64. But I can't do without my VIVO functions especially V-in as I have my satellite box from the front room outputting dually to the TV, and to my PC allowing me to watch TV on my PC in the other room without needing a TV-card.
Hence, I was more than bit disappointed when ATI dropped V-in on the 8500. There were rumours that Gigabyte would bring out there own 8500 with V-in but I see no sign of this.
If the R300 shows no sign of having VIVO then I may be forced to do the unthinkable and change my allegiance...only time will tell...but I think my Radeon is ready for an upgrade.

It would be nice to see some games that actually make use of the existing hardware. Doom 3 was much vaunted for being coded for the GF3 series, I now see it is being aimed at the GF4's,mmmmmm I suspect a marketing ploy somewhere.

I will buy a Ti 4600 but only because someone will pay me £200 for my Ti500. I know there are arguements for waiting, but really there is never a good time to buy.

If I waited my system would be outdated and cost an arm and a leg to upgrade. The computer is my hobby so that's generally where I spend my cash.

Already pre-ordered my Visiontek Ti4600. I am not one to wait too long when it comes to gfx cards. I waited long enough for my XP and kt266a board.

Bleh to buying it. I spent a cool $320 on my GF3 which clocks past Ti500 speeds, so that will do fine for a while...unless that is I get a GF4 Ti4600 for a review. Then I'll take it no problem, hah. Actually I have a MX440 coming in hopefully later this week for a review.
