Question Which Monitor? Down To 2 Choices..

And Now I Come To Decide Which Monitor I Will Buy... If Either Of These Names Look Familiar To Anyone, I'd Appreciate Any Input Both Look Very Comparable, In Specs As Well As Price. I've Never Owned A Monitor From Either Brand, However.

Both Are 17", 16" Viewable... Flat Screen...

    $160-$170 Pre-Shipped Pricetags...

    Here's Links To Both Monitors:

    ViewSonic E70F

    Hitachi CM621F

    Any Particular Reason Why?

Well... Your Recommendation Is The Hitachi... Maybe You Could Support Your Decision With Examples, Testimony, Review?

    Wink Def the hitachi

While viewsonic can make a decent monitor the hitahi will give you better picture quality and last longer than that viewsonic.

    How About...

Well, Since It's Been Brought To My Attention, Let's Also Throw Samsung Into The Mix. I Was Looking At A 755DF, Which Is On Par With The Hitachi CM621F And The ViewSonic E70F

But... To Par Up On The Scale...

There Is The Hitachi CM625, The ViewSonic E75F, And The Samsung 700IFT

Now That I'm Doing My Research, I'm Finding More And More Info...

And The Samsung Looks To Be My Choice, By The Numbers

    But...

I Still Want Some Personal Testimony To Help Me Out. Numbers Don't Tell It All.

neither, Sony. a little more expensive, but well worth the price.

while i don't have your specific samsung monitors talked about, i do have a samsung 7inch from about 3 years ago that was one of the "3 top 17 inch monitors' of the year..i was frankly sceptical cause at that point, samsung did not have much of a name in canada..but i bought it and it is still going strong, colour, clarity, resolution..all continues to be like the day it was bought

I only buy Sony since my first 17". But I had the chance to see some Samsungs and they're excellent monitors IMHO. Sony is better but the quality difference from the others isn't worth the price difference.

    Yeah... Sony...

I Looked Into Sony's Lineup Of Monitors... And... The Only Ones I Found In My Price Range Don't Quite Beat Out The Others By The Numbers. Once I Got Into The $220+ Range, Preshipped, I Started Seeing Good Ones That Weren't Used... I Know Darn Well That I'd Be Paying For The Sony Brand More Than I'd Be Paying For Better Quality.

I'll Take It Into Consideration, Though... I Could Possibly Pull An Extra $50 Into The Computer Fund...

Still Leaning Towards A Samsung 700IFT At The Moment, Though.

i'd say go with samsung. was able to compare both sony and samsung side by side in a local store running off the same video card.. the sony, being trinitron has these 2 horizontal lines which can be annoying if you have a sensitive eye. working on a word document or anything with a white background makes it worse. samsung wins in pricing definitely. in buying a monitor, i usually compare how the screen displays graphics and text...i bought a samsung 950p, graphics and text look great(while typing this) . i dont even feel envious of other monitors coz i feel i bought the right one...hope this helps...

love my samsong 900ift wish I had bought a 21" but could not afford

samsung make a great monitor at a good price at the time it was 1/2 the price of a sony

there has been talk thet the samsung tubes go bad after 5 years and the sonys last ten+ but @ 1/2 the price I will bank the diffrence and buy a 25 in 5 years with that $$$ instead of being stuck with 19" for 10

I have had a really bad experiance with Korean brand products such as Samsung/Daewoo. ViewSonic really sucks, I recommend Mitsubishi monitors, they are very expensive, but they are the best monitors money can buy.

wow, dude i wish i could of seen this thread before you bought. i am of the impression that bigger is better. i bought a sony multiscan 200sx in 97 or 98. (paid alot for it) i bought a 19" off name sight unseen based on specs. it was cheap. and i eventually gave it to my sister cause it would not touch my sony. i got the itch again for a bigger display, and came across a 19" from proview pure flat for 219 dollars. having been burned on the 19" view mate i had to see this display in person. i went to the local mail order place looked at it fell in love with it took it home. it is as bright, and as sharp as the sony. the colors is vibrant.... and i smiled at myself that night before i went to see the sandman. and said "bill, my boy. it was cheap, but dammit it do look and work good." well anyways hope you like your new monitor
