I totaly agree with tenax on this one.. I have /use the sk6 with the delta and with any lesser fan the performance drops largly.

Thanks for the input guys. I wonder if the AX-7 suffers from the same problem? Being a hybrid cooler, it may not.

I guess any 80mm fan that has less than 3000 RPM will just be a waste of time and money.

Tenax why did you decide on the Arkua cooler? What would you buy right now if you had a chance.

because:

a) i didn't want to spend the big bucks for an alpha 8045 or swiftie 462

b) i wanted a heatsink i didn't have to muck around mounting to the board, unless i had a reason to pull a board.

i don't regret my choice at all

On my kids machine a sk6 with the delta [which is upstairs and i can hear it over my personal machine]
and on mine watercooling which can be viewed on my website.

Bah! I'm still at work.... but as you can tell by the amount of posting I do all day that I don't do much.

I'm currently looking for a new job and wish this one company would get back to me so I know whether to move to Edmonton or not. Sheesh. It's been 2 weeks since I wrote their "email test" and heard nothing since.

grrrr.

It's nice weather today in Toronto. Nice 10C. Few mroe degrees and I'll be wearing shorts and sandals!

I think this is the case with most copper heatsinks, they are far better at absorption than alu heatsinks, but not nearly as good at dissipation. I think that's it.

That's mainly why the copper base, alu body heatsinks are so popular...
