    Question

Yes I have an ASUS A7M266 and yes I have had my R8500 retail vid card in it.
I had no problems with the system.
I did go back to the 8KHA+ Epox as soon as I received the replacement. I used this combo for a couple of weeks. Works great. I have a XP1800+, 512mb Crucial PC2100, Bios 1006, looks about the same as yours.
If you are having problems. Did you do a virgin install of fhe R8500 drivers? What vid card did you have before the Radeon? Sounds as if you did not purge all the reminants of a vid card from the registry before installing the R8500.

thank you for the reply bobyjo, I called ATI tech support again and they said since the card worked in another system and a radeon7000 works in my system, its probably a finiky BIOS setting, or bad bios in the radeon8500. He is sending me a more comprehensive list of BIOS settings for my moterboard with the 8500(dont worry, I'll post it here as we'll). He said last resort that a newer or older velease of the 8500(w/different bios might solve the problem) otherwise, I might have to be a slave to nvidia

By the way, I did do a format and fresh install of win98,2000,and XP with just the video card in the system. same thing

    Question

It appears that you have done about everything and the card does not work.

RMA the sucker and get another one. I RMA'ed two of them before I got one that will perform the way I want it to. Runs 3dMark2201, The benchmark 2002, all games with no problems of any kind. RTCW,MOHAA,MaxPayne and a lot of others.
Believe me there is a Radeon 8500 that will work on the 8KHA+ systems. There have been several posts on several forums about such. Again there are people that have problems.

The venders don't care about the RMA's, they get credit for a unit sold even if it is a RMA.
