    Morbid Jester

you can put any spin on it you want Morbid, bottom line its still unneeded Government Censorship. Companies should not have to alter their games to please a few bleeding hearts.......In the USA the government leaves censorship up to the parents, where the resposibility really is. Not being able to have retail access to even 1 game, because of Government interference is simply rediculous, and would never be tolerated here in the USA........

Blatantly ripped from the review at The Firing Squad:

If you’re playing single player Jedi Outcast, do yourself a favor and hit these commands in the console (to get the console hit shift and ~ at the same time):

    helpUsObi 1
    g_saberRealisticCombat 1
    g_dismemberment 1

This cranks the violence rating up, and allows you to hack off limbs with the light saber. Normally you can only chop off a hand once in a while, but with these settings you will always chop off a limb, a head, or separate a torso, just how you would expect a real light saber to act. This is the way Jedi Outcast should be played.
Thanks for the heads up, Slayer.

Be as hard as you like with Germany, we can handle constuctive criticism. But you got it wrong, sorry. All I have to do to get one of those games is go out and bring some ID. That is it. Unaltered. The game can be sold, played and so on. No censorship involved, but access is restricted on retail level. I can still go out and buy Silent Hill2 for my 6year old kid, should I have the kid and want him to play, only he can't get it by himself. Besides so far most parents blatantly fail in restricting access to material unfit for minors. I've worked as a teacher before, I know what I am talking about. The case of Wolfenstein should be pretty clear. I think I don't have to explain to you why especially Germany tries to make pretty sure that anything Nazi is kept at bay. We know what might happen if we don't. As for the censorship being not existant in the States, try and find some extreme nudity or profanity on the big TV Networks. Or Splatter movies. Same thing, different subject. You either pay for it (or give some ID) or you can't have it easily. So somebody is busy censoring movies in order to bring them to a broader public. Take Jerry Springer as another example. More beeps than uncensored sentences. Cut away the scenes with the boobies and you are good to go.That is about the way Germany handles violence in games. For you, the beeps in Jerry's show are normal, I hear no outcry of rage about the censoring there. I can cuss like a sailor on national TV and it wont get censored.
And like I say it gets less and less, because the scientific proof of the games being harmful to minors gets less and less, which was one of the bases this thing was founded on.
All the companies have to do is print the minimum age on the box and comply to the general guidelines of what is acceptable to the broad public here. Much like in the States. Only public opinions differ
Personally, I think the whole thing is about as senseless as the balls of the pope.

LucasArts didn't make the game. Raven did.

The reasons why this game is not very good are as follows....

First and foremost, the save game part of this game works like shiznit. Expecially since this game is a "Play by Save" game!
I'm curious about what exactly is wrong with the save game feature. You can save the game normally, or you can quick save. What else would you like?

The sniper rifle zooms waaaaaaaaaaaaay to slow and returns to normal view if your trying to side-step or move at all. (to which you get to wait way to long for it to zoom again while your getting sniped by 3 people you still need to find) Funny how the saber doesn't do anything to defend yourself against snipers... yet can defend you against anything else.... How does that part work? Who thought that one up? Also the sniper rifle is not very accurate being a 'sniper rifle' with way to much 'prettys' in the zoom lense that get in your way, also lucas somehow forgot to add in the most basic essential of a sniper rifle..... CROSS HAIRS!
Ever tried walking around with a fully zoomed rifle? Doesn't work too well. You think it zooms in too slowly, some others think it zooms in too quickly. The obvious answer to your question is that the sniper rifle fires an instantaneous shot, and therefore one can assume that it can't be blocked.

The rifle is also 100% accurate, so i don't really know where you got that from.

Manouvering is yet to been seen as anything nice...
Don't really know what you mean by that... moving around is pretty straightforward.

It takes practically more than half the game to finally get any of the force powers and you spend the entire first half of the game with 3, count them, '3' guns.
Thats simply flat out not true.

You get these neat little thermal detonators thou....... just you can only throw them like a woman, not even a woman, a little girls..... wait.......... i mean............. a little girl with no arms would best sum up your worthless chucks of these things that mostly just drop to your feet.... It's not that they are heavy.... enamies can chuck them acrost 'huge' openings to peg your straight in the head. and you can wear alot of them on your person, So this good idea is ruined by the smart guys at lucas arts.
Please tell me you're joking. If you didn't figure out to hold down the button to throw it further... wow.

I think i could go on and on about how many stupid ideas were actually implimented into this game... It's 'OK' just they took some of the most basic and obvious 'fun' parts out... on purpose?!?!?! what?
Well most of what you said so far was either 100% wrong, or just weird so its probably best to not continue.

JK2 is a great game. Your impatience with it is odd.

    hmmmm interesting Morbid....

It definitly doesn't sound as bad as most people try to make it out to be. But one question comes to mind with things like Jedi Knight II and all starwars products.

It 'is' then tolorated or 'not a big deal' the federation was modeled on nazi's and even today in this game they try to portray german accent, Boss designed clothing/uniforms, helmets so on and so on also being equated to the 'dark side'? And if so does that not get on your nerves from time to time or do you just take it in stride as a game and nothing more?

(it's pretty rediculous i know) but thats how uneasy some people were after WWII.... As anybody obviosly knows. The thing that gets me is the people that ...still.... think that just how all germans were back then.. It only took a few individuals in the right places to make that movment turn in the direction it ultimatly did turn in. (later found out by the masses) Eitherway all this is old news.

Rating systems are both here and there. You cannot buy certian games/movies/cd's under the age of 18 or 17 in the US also. So that sounds pretty much the same with creating games that your fighting bots and have green blood if you want to lower your target audience. Ours is a little lighter and I don't know that you could necissarily get away with baning logo's or insignia. (the KKK being a allowed to really do whatever they want as long as it doesn't result in harm to others is a good example of that, pretty dumb organization thou.)

I'm don't know that i think what you guys are doing is a bad idea at all. I agree in many ways, but at the same time believe in the foundation of our amendments to remain how they were initially drafted it out of respect for the people that founded this nation. (call me stubborn) Either way it's no real big deal and isn't going to make you go home crying if didn't have one way or the other i'm sure. It suites each state/community just fine and ultimatly 'should' be left up to those states/communities to make their own decision of what works best for them.

Thanks for you response and clear explination, I now know the answer to that thought.

....man you guys get that crap 'jerry springer' out there? I'm sorry.

I think I am way past the point of that getting on my nerves. If anything, I am bored out of my skull by it. I see the references made to the uniforms and the bad boys usually being the ones with the german/russian accent, blonde hair blue eyes type of cardboard cutout and file that under a more or less artistic way to make the bad guys look even more notorious. Some directors do a good job, others don't and people who choose to believe that germans are still the evil bastards have my pity. I consider people calling me a Nazi because of my nations history (which happens from time to time, usually when they run out of arguments..) a lost cause. I don't bother with them anymore, smile and let them stay in their part of reality. It is rather sad to see how the propaganda from roughly 60 years ago still has an impact that big. Goes both ways, btw. But he majority of people is just too lazy to see for themselves, when a time tested, preformulated opinion is readily available. With the advantage of 'your' side holding the moral highground to boot.
To make a long rant short: 99,9% of the cases it does not bother me at all, because I see the reason for that stereotype and the intention behind the use of that in a movie like Star Wars. It bothers me a lot more if the term Nazi is used in a casual way to describe some restrictive kind of policy. It's like making a molehill out of a mountain to me.

Oh, and there is NO excuse for Jerry Springer....

(We don't get it, but I've seen it when I spent some months in the US and Canada.)

If you crouch while zoomed and strafe, you will stay zoomed in. That can help if you zoom in a bit behind a wall then strafe right or left toward the enemy while crouched.

I'm actually glad the saber doesn't deflect disruptor (sniper) shots - it would make the game too easy!

Never had a problem with sniper accuracy. If you're zoomed in enough, you'll hit anything.

However, I realize that everyone has their own opinion - I've really enjoyed the game so far (been playing about a week - fortunately saw the RealisticCombat/Dismemberment before I started). As much as I hate stealth levels, at least that one was short!

Yeah, the stealth level was easily the worst part of the game. I love stealth (Metal Gear Solid 2 is one of my top five games) but the JK2 game engine just wasn't designed for it.
