    OK, more serious post here.

Anyone noticed lately that the number of companies making hdd's is dwindling. IBM sold out to Hitachi, quantum gobbled up by maxtor, does Fujitsu make drives anymore? I haven't seen Fujitsu drives for sale lately.

That leaves maxtor, seagate, WD - did I miss ne1? Is Hitachi/does Hitachi have hdd's for retail sale? I never seen one here is good ole Canada of A.

Well actually I suppose this should not be surprising: lookie at other comp's:

    gpu - nvidia, ati, matrox
cpu - chipzilla, amd, via (slight snicker)
apu - creative's emu, cirrus logic (ie tbsc), phillips (only phillips makes sc's based on their apu), fortmedia
chipsets - chiptel, via, sis, ali (does ne1 actually use ali chipsets??)
    os's - microgate, linux/unix
hdd's - maxtor, WD, seagate, hitachi???
memory - samsung, micron, nanya, infineon, winbond (a few more here)

Clearly the above list is not complete, but does represent most major mfgers', and it would seem that for most major components, there are only 3-4 main mfgers.

Wooot, 200 posts. A small milestone.

Taking the wife and kids to see family. Will be a good time indeed.

Don't be too jealous, after that I don't get another break till Christmas, although I get two weeks then too, so all in all not too bad.

I must be sobering up, my spelling is getting better!

I get thanksgiving off, but it is only a long weekend. Here in Canada, our tg day is the second monday of october, which this year is october 14. So I get Sat, Sun, and Mon off. I don't really count long weekends as holidays, just a well deserved day off with pay
