call2, you're getting 8.9ms in HDTach 2.61, so how is it that my brand new out of the box Maxtor D740X is scoring 12.1 yet it scores 27000 in Sandra? Try re-running those benchmarks..are you sure you aren't facotring in rotational latency?

I get the opinion that we're not all singing from the same hymn sheet here. Download HDTach 2.61....2.60 is old. There are some added features with 2.61.

Here is my GXP75 30Gb readout with the Advance size box unchecked in 2.61:
    Access time 9.3
    Throughput 81m/sec
    Max read speed 38507
    Min read speed 26158
    Ave read speed 34971

    Advance size box checked:
    Access time 12.1
    Throughput 81m/sec
    Max read speed 38465
    Min read speed 17237
    Ave read speed 29153

Here is my GXP120 80Gb readout with the Advance size box unchecked in 2.61:
    Access time 8.3
    Throughput 88m/sec
    Max read speed 48398
    Min read speed 43315
    Ave read speed 46577

    Advance size box checked:
    Access time 11.9
    Throughput 88m/sec
    Max read speed 55555
    Min read speed 22058
    Ave read speed 38107

Sorry that I haven't been able to put an image of HDTach in, but I'm not that clever. The manufactures use the best possible scenario for their specs and usually stick to readings given in the HD "sweet spot" - the first tracks! But HDTach gives good consistancy and is far better than Sandra.
