No problem.I'm happy with the drive.Just a benchmark.
    Thought this was interesting:
"Sounds played by the computer are distorted or have a "crackling" noise, especially sounds from a Creative-brand or Aureal-brand sound card "
Supposedly fixes this.Seem to recall someone having this problem.

Sounds like the WD 80JB is fast! How is the noise level, and heat output compared to other drives you have recently worked with?

    ...still making buying decisions...

    thanks,

What a contrast. I am working in a cool basement, I can't hear my computer over the "mamas and papas" tune that I am downloading, and the cat is asleep next to me.

Maybe I will go outside and throw some rocks at the kids next door to liven up my life...

    Cool

I current have a WD 1200BB and needed to replace a second smaller drive on my box. Well after reading all the hype, I got a new WD 1200JB. I have both drives on the same PC and am trying to copy the files/system, etc from the BB to the JB. I now have identical systems on both and am starting to run benchmarks and compare loading, etc.

The Sandra Pro Benchmark for the WD1200BB is 20521.
The Sandra Pro Benchmark for the WD1200JB is 29542. A 44% improvement.

If someone will tell me how to post the screenshot, I'll add them as well.

    My System:

    ASUS A7V333
    AMD XP 1800+
    ATI AIW 8500DV
    SB Audigy Platinum
    WD 1200JB
    WD 1200BB
    HP DVD200i

Thank you kaps-- those are the numbers I was looking for.

I would like to post a couple sisoftsandra numbers myself.

i was pulling 24,000 with an IBM 120GXP on IDE
    and I was pulling 44,000 in RAID0 with (2) IBM 120 GXP'S

I am in an awful state of misery, I lost one of the IBM's- so I dumped my raid drive, I had nothing backed up.

I will not make another raid setup out of IBM drives again.

The only drive that intrigued me was this WD 800JB---

If the WD800JB can pull 29,000 in IDE, I want to see anybody post some RAID0- SisoftSandra scores !!!!!

BTW- For the WD800JB's right now, $107
