LOL, pacmanfan, I grew up on a farm, so I am well aware of Monsanto. I haven't farmed with my dad in awhile, but crap like all this genetic altered sh$$ turned him off farming, and they have since sold the farm to our local hutterites.
And yes, roundup resistant canola is a scurge. The problem is volunteer RR canola which springs up. It is basically then a "weed", and is hard to get rid of, at least cheaply, since roundup is very cheap compared to stuff like Puma, or other new herbicides. I think it is a plot by Monsanto to get rid of roundup, which they no longer have patents for, to force farmers to buy more expensive chemicals. Hmmm, I wonder if Billie boy Gates serves on Monsanto's BOD's?????
Anyways, the other thing about volunteer RR canola is that if it "grows" in your field, and Monsanto catches you, they can sue you for patent infringement, even though you aren't "growing" it, and it is essentially a weed. Don't laugh ppl, it has been DONE. AND, monsanto partly won their case!!!!!
Anyways, pac, nice to see someone else on this forum who gets agriculture stuff. You aren't a farmer, R ya???

yes, people it is true. in the patents for their products, monsanto has the rights for noone to be able to grow monsanto products without signing their papers (which allows monsanto to force you to grow only their products from then on. if you want to grow anything else, you will face a lawsuit.). it is against the law for there to be any trace of monsanto genes to be in your crops, regardless if you planted them or not. thats very crooked, considering corn will pollonate at up to 150 miles in the right conditions won't it? many farmers have lost all their land just paying monsanto's fees because monsanto genes were found in their crop, even though they didn't plant monsanto. Percy Schmeiser, a canola farmer in canada is a good example.
stuff like that should be illegal, but it's not. ya know why? someone high up at monsanto switches between his job as a major FDA official and being in high places at monsanto.
