don't know if I can buy a card with no warranty. IM guessing the gainwood and leadtek might be used for overclocking.
I might just go with a Asus just because I own a Asus motherboard.

I have a lifetime warranty on my Visiontek but when push came to shove and my fan died, I just swapped it at BB with a working onethey told me 4 to 6 weeks to get my video card back AND I had to pay shipping-- give me a break.
I'd take the added OCing of one of the aforementioned brands over the warranty any day, IMO. Anyone wanna trade me their Gainward GS TI200?![]()

I would not do any of thoses things because I am sure that NVIDIA has done its homework and conducted enough heat related test to conclude not to put the Ramsinks on the Ram for the reason of its not needed as shown in Anandtech the ram after 10mins of gaming is 117F to 120F not to high thus not needed. The only reason some of the companies put the extra cooling on to get the extra buyers it draws from it

Yes, that's at stock speeds, but the RAM heats up quite a bit more once you overclock itRamsinks = more OCing
Gainward and Leadtek both use Ramsinks and they are the most preferred brands and the best overclockers...coincidence? I think not!
Makes sense to me that over half the people who have voted, voted for a brand that uses Ramsinks on the GeForce4...Abit, Asus, Gainward, Leadtek etc
Warranty is not that important to me. Give me a good overclocker any day over a brand with a warranty. Of course, that's just me![]()

Regarding warranties,
Leadtek = 3 years for retail
Gainward = 1 year for retail
Thanks for the info Nuke.

From personal experience, even though Gainward offers only a 1yr warranty. If you "lost" your receipt and can't remember who you bought your card from, they still honor the warranty. And if the card is still in production within the last year, the only bit of info that might actually remember is that you definately purchased it around 6mths ago.![]()
(I find this to be the case with all part manufacturers)
I've had my eye on the Leadtek, great overclocking and not quite as pricey as the gainward.

Nobody beats Visiontek's warranty, lifetime.. But it is tempting not to OC the crap out of it. My card really overclocks, I had to replace Coolbits with Rivatuner because the sliders in Coolbits did not go high enough..

I OC'ed my Visiontek GF3 like hell, run perfect for months.
Last February I ****** up while tinkering with my system and fried it.
I sent them the card and they replaced it with a GF4 Ti4400, no questions asked.
It has lifetime warranty, so maybe if the card craps out again in a few years they'll give me a GF6...![]()

I like PowerColor, they are a small company but make excellent cards that overclock and perform very well compared to higher priced cards.![]()

Here's a question: Between the two companies with lifetime warranties, which is the better overclocker out the box? What speed ram does each have? How does this compare to Gainward and Leadtek ram?
*note* kind of talking out loud. probably going to look this up myself when I have more time.

Hmm, I might RMA my Visiontek, get a GF4 back, sell it, and buy a 9700...
If I ever buy an NVIDIA card again, it'll probably be Leadtek, I hear they have a 3 year and that's all you really need.
