The RY beta bios is great! I can run my old PC100CL2 memory in Turbo and 4 way interleave and my Sandra memory scores are in the low 400 region ! This was not possible with the beta 42 bios. Gonna try overclocking without a GFD on my week 15 700.

    Minister:

I do not have SCSI on this particular box but, this is what the KA7_RY.txt says about the current fixes for the beta RY bios:

1.Delay DRAM read latch- fix kinmax memory module issue.
    (Advanced Chipset Features)
2.MD driving strength:Lo- fix V-TEC memory module issue.
    (Advanced Chipset Features)
3.Supports AGP 4X Fast write (Advanced Chipset Features)
4.K7 CLK_CTL select ptimal- Optimize K7 CPU parameters.
    (Advanced Chipset Features)
5.CPU L2 cache id- L2 cache devider (Softmenu III)
6.Fix SCSI CD-ROM booting fail issue on Adaptec AHA2940
    series and other SCSI cards.

I hope this helps your SCSI problems!

They said something similar about the RX release, which turned into a disaster for me, so I do not trust them anymore. I only have one system here and I depend on it running all the time -- I cannot afford downtime -- so I would like for someone else to give me some experiences first.

I switched back from RX to the previous release. I felt ready to go buy a TYAN after running RX -- only El Diable saved me.

I'm going to give RY a try tonight. I'll let you know how safe it is on my adaptec 2940 setup.

    Question

    I have a Week 14 K7-700

How can I tell what SRAM I am using on my athlon without taking the fan off to see what it is? SEC, NEC or Mitsubishi,Motorola.

I really don't want to chance guessing.

    Thanks

After this: experience with RX, I am pleased to report that RY worked perfectly with my SCSI setup and so far seems to be just as or even better than KA7_42.

    Unhappy

It only worked for a little while at 1Ghz, then it became too unstable after a few boots. I haven't tried 900 or 950 yet, but more than likely Ineed a bettter heatsink combo like the VOS 32. I have a FLK32 now, but I guess its not enough. May I ask what your combo is and what settings in bios you have?

    Thanks

Well, RY will go in tonight. If you do not hear from me for a while, assume I had problems, otherwise, look for my report Monday. Have a good weekend, everyone.

It works. Does anyone know when Abit will publish a release version?
