    ATI Radeon 8500 Drivers

I just installed the ATI Radeon 8500 drivers on my SuSE 8.0 System.

    http://mirror.ati.com/support/driver...00x420143.html

I kept screwing it up by running SAX2, rather than the fglrxfconfig file.

I just tested the drivers in UT and it played well and the graphics were good

Two things problems that I have noted are:

I lost the scroll wheel on my mouse

My desktop fonts are screwed up They look like the old netscape fonts

Both problems ought to be easy to fix

The 8500 seems to be on par now with the ti200. I was getting real tired of the 2D support and was planning on going to http://www.xig.com/ and getting their drivers if no 3D drivers came out.

Thats not too bad, I ended up trading my 8500 for a Geforce3 just to have 3d support. Sounds like a good deal now though.

If the drivers didn't come out soon I was going to get the xig drivers. I used the xig drivers for my Rage Fury 32MB when it first came out.

I waited about 3 months for Xfree86 to come out with the Rage Fury drivers, and then gave up, so I got the xig drivers becuase I needed to play quake

Perhaps you should pm the people who started these threads instead of bringing them back from the past hehe.
