I have called all my local shops and no one carries the thermistor for the Asus K7V. Unfortunately, mine did not come with one, I didn't even have the option of purchasing one! I need it to detect my CPU temp and CPU fan speed, I didn't know the motherboards BIOS dosen't detect it without it. Any ideas? Thanks!

well, I read in a webpage couple weeks ago, some one just bought a thermistor from radio shack and wired that himself.. looks pretty easy. but I can't remember the spec for the thermistor he used. maybe you can dig through some webpages and find out. it's a few dollar's job.

I got the one I have for the K7M from Egghead.com. It was only $2.99 and shipping was free, but it had to be back ordered and took a while to ship. I remember it was hard to find. Try doing a search at egghead.com for P2T (or whatever the name of it is).

I believe plycon.com sells thermistors which are supposed to work with most motherboards. You might email them and ask about compatibility.

I have the part# you are looking for.

    Radio Shack 271-110A Thermistor
    10k ohms +/- 1% at 25c

Tiny little thing. Hooked it up to some cables from an old AT case and I have not one but 3 temperature readouts.

    Works just fine.

I am currently using the Rat Shack option. It works great and seems to be accurate. I cut a small hole in the top of the proc case and fished the sucker down next to the proc. I am running 700=>770/110 and I register about 53-57C which seems about right. You should be able to connect your fan to the cpu fan sensor connection. (This is on the K7M BTW, so I am assuming (I know) that things are pretty much the same on your board. GL

How do you get three readouts? What are they showing? I'm picking one up today to try it out.

Sorry, I do get 3 readouts but I had to by 2 thermistors. After soldering them to cables I inserted 1 thermistor right next to the CPU core (I opened the CPU case). The other can be used for anything but I decided to place it on the back side of the Athlon PCB board right where the CPU would sit.
MotherBoard Monitor did find what chipset for temp/fan monitor as AsusAS99127F and if you have utilized the sensors in question, MBM should find them.

Here is what mine looks like:

Dumb question, should you use a thermistor if your CPU isn't overclocked?
teebee, what monitoring software are you using? (Motherboard Monitor 4.12 duh) Better than ASUS probe? Where can I get it?Personally I don't like ASUS probe. Thanx.

    Thumbs up

    Not at all!

If you're not o/c'ing the thing my guess is your system is closed, so you're not tinkering inside it much. Well besides being a gauge for heat transfer its also valuable in reporting the stability of your powersupply and your so called (mobo manufacturers) default voltage settings. Alarms can be set albet if your system is running hot it'll be annoying if you don't cool her down some. A very resourceful program I must say.

Asus Probe is not that bad. It does have 1 up on MBM in that it'll report fan RPM speed. I don't like the way it hogs your resources though and reports next to nothing from within the Task bar. Its good from time to time compare settings but MBM is all and more.

It wasn't in stock when I ordered it either, but I received it in a week or two and the shipping was free.
www.plycon.com sells a thermal sensor cable for $4.99 which they advertise as capable of working with most boards. You could email for specifics about your board.
