Could you post the rest of your specs (including bios version) so that I can compare setups? Cheers!

I am having these same problems....particularly, the not being able to boot problem. I have A7V333 Revision 1.01, Bios 1015, and an XP 2400+, however, it will not boot into Windows2000. If I use my 1.2 T-Bird, all is well. When I put the 2400+ in, it won't boot. I tried booting in Safe Mode and the same result. I did notice that it won't go past the Mup.sys file when loading, but I don't know if that has anything to do with the file or the cpu. Well anyways, I currently have a 2400 just sitting here not being used....it wants to be used! Any help whatsoever would be greatful. Thnx.

you could clear cmos, then put the new cpu in

    then restart

if it still doesnt boot, i think that you have a buggy board on your hands, its not your fault

I have cleared the CMOS to see if that would help but it didn't. It just refuses to boot past a certain point when loading W2k. It posts fine and everything checks out OK except the w2k loading issue.

Did any of you guys have to format and reinstall your OS when switching out the CPU? I don't see how that would be needed, but I'm lost as to how to fix this.

Are you guys running in Jumper mode or Jumper-Free mode? Would either of these settings make a difference when loading the OS? What are you guys' voltage settings and such? Thnx.

It's not the same problem IDE.

Our problem is that when we do a restart our screen just goes blank, then we have to turn off the PC, and turn it on again, resetting doesn't work. We don't even get the BIOS or nothing. If you get as far as to Windows loading, you have some other problems

hey dude, yeah i understand your problem. But if anyone could answer those questions in my previous post that would be helpful. Specifically these:

Did any of you guys have to format and reinstall your OS when switching out the CPU?

Are you guys running in Jumper mode or Jumper-Free mode? Would either of these settings make a difference when loading the OS? What are you guys' voltage settings and such?

    Thnx

    Arrow Up the voltage

    IDERaid,
I suggest you to give 2.85 volts to your mem and up 0.025 the vcore.
Also try to install your mem in slot 2 or 3.
Be sure that you have select the 'optimize' and not the 'turbo' option in Bios.

I'm running an XP2400+ at 183x12 at 1.90Vcore, Corsair 512MB XMS3500C2 at 2.85 VDimm in slot 1, Jumperfree mode of course
    Oh and Bios 1010.002 beta.

nope, you dont have to format when using a new CPU, windows should take care of it

id be suprised if it doesnt cope

cold boot and warm boot problems are usually caused by something going wrong in the boot process

the best way to diagnose it is to send it to a specialist, like Asus, perhaps you should call them, if people like yourself have a faulty product, it should still be covered under warranty

jumper mode and jumper free mode could make a difference, it depends if we find that it makes a difference, have you noticed a difference?

I don't see how I have a defective product. Do you mean the cpu or my a7v333? The board is fine, it works great...just not when 2400 is in it but I doubt that's the board itself. Probably just a bios issue or something other than board itself.

I tried jumper mode and jumper free mode...neither worked.
