    inexpensive high fidelity card

    Fuzzy,

I'm reconfiguring my home machine for optimal audio purposes. I'm most concerned about audio fidelity & clarity. Gaming sound performance is not a big issue for me.

I'm thinking about spending up to $150 or possibly $200 on a soundcard.

What do you think of the HoonTech DSP24 Value card?

What other cards would you suggest in that price range?

    Check this out, http://www.io.com/~kazushi/audiocard/dsp24ve/

I think I have to agree with the last statement. "I suggest you to buy Audiophile 2496." For the dollar, there isn't a better card on the market. I mean, you can compare this card, at least for sound quality with the multi $xxxx.xx cards. It's an awesome card. If someone can show me a card that costs under $200 that has all those features and is that flat in analog response, show me. Please!

BTW- They can be had for under $150 at Guitar Center. The trick is, you just have to tell them that you have seen it for less, somewhere else.

    Hey Fuzzy,
Have you ever listened to any NHT speakers? I am about to write a review on a set of 5.1 powered NHT monitors, a package they put together specifically for a computer setup. I'm looking forward to listening to these.

Windsor, those look sweet! To bad I don't have $2K to blow. Though to be honest, I really want to get a surround setup of the Behringer Truths. I mean, at $300 a pair, just get 6 of em. Beats the prices on those Mackies.

yeah, I'm going in with an open mind, but they only are rated down to 39Hz, which leaves a little to be desired. But we shall see.

Yeah, ultimately we have to accept that they are just computer speakers. Nothing more, nothing less.
