    8K7A+ and 2400+ ???????????

    Hi,
I just ordered a 2400+ from NewEgg and have the 8K7A+. There is no official support of this cpu so we will see.

I am hoping at least at deafault it will work but just not post speeds correctly. This since official Tbred support is up to 2200+ for the board. The 2200+ at 13.5, if I remember correctly, is the a multiplier remeapped CPU. My hope is with a 5/29/2002 bios they just haven't been able to support the new mulitplier to speed grade listings properly.

My eventual hope is to run 15x150. Presently I run a 1500+ at 10x150 with no problems. This should yeild 2250 Mhz and be the end of upgrade life forthe system until a hammer graces my desktop.

I am wondering is anyone else has tried this as of yet? aybe I should just order another board now and save myself the trouble, but I love my 8K7A+ and raid..........

I am thinking of getting either a 2400+ or 2600+ for my 8K7A+ rev. 1.0 next month.

I will certainly too forward to your experiment, hope it will be a positive one.

    Cool go here

    http://www.aoaforums.com/forum/index.php?

ask "Epox tech" if the chip will run in the board, i suspect it will if you set the mulitiplier to 'auto' in the bios.

and, it would be a good idea to have the latest bios for whatever support is available with that board.

Don't bother asking Epox Tech, they will tell you that it doesn't support.

    Even their PDF says so.

So, it's all up to the customer to test.

I know, up to the consumer. It would be nice if they would at least hint to the fact of whether they got a post or what?

    Hi,
Just got the CPU and it BOOTS..............

In bios it comes up as unknown CPU

It is oc's now to 15x150 at 1.85 Vcore. 1.75 would crash in windows.

I have a middle of the road cooler and fan annd am running at 37C-39C.

Does the 2400+ work perfectly at default clockspeed and
    voltage ?

BTW, whats your board revision ?

Is it possible for you to do some testing with benchmarks, etc to ensure that the CPU won't be slowed down just because it's unrecognised ?

    If it works..........

    If not.................

It seems to run fine. On first install it took three times turning on the machine before it worked and posted video bios. Why I don't know. It finally started fine when I tried the third time watching the bios post codes.

I should note I have turned it off and on several times afterwards to see if it were a hit and miss start-up but it starts every time.

I initially installed the cpu at default speed but since I always run 0.1 over Vcore I can't say if it postes at default. I can say all worked fine at 1.75 Vcore 2 default speed.

Ok here you are, hope you aren't on a modem as you asked for these..........

Thanks for the specs TANWare. Please let us know what revision your 8K7A+ is. I've seen other posts that state that Rev 1.0 will not run the 2400+, but haven't seen anyone attempt to run the 2400+ with Rev 1.0 yet. Inquiring minds want to know

    He is using rev. 1.1.

Rev 1.0 should be able to run the chip.

I have a 8K7A rev 1.1 I beleive. So I should be able to use the 2400 and 2700 DDR memory in this board. Would a bios update help it reconize the CPU?? One more thing, could we run the CPU at 333 opposed to 266. I've read that there are some 333, 2400 cpu out on the market?? Any ideas to these questions. Thanks.
