Help with MB and Video Combo

Guys i need a some help.

I need to buy another motherboard, ram, and vido card Monday. I am leaning toward the MSI Kt3 Ultra2 since i have had good luck with MSI boards in the past.

I am wondering if anyone has used the ABIT SILURO GF4 TI4200 64MB DDR video card with this board? I am concerned about compatibility issues.

I am also planning to use Crucial 2700 DDR ram in this board. Any and all responses and advice would be greatly appreciated.

    thanks in advance

greetings and welcome to the MSI forum here at amdmb.com

tho i havent run that graphics card before...i havent heard of any issues in compatability with the combination you refer to. as wonkanoby stated, make sure you have a minimum 200w combined output on the 3.3v and 5v rails.

the crucial pc/2700 is a fine choice and you should have no problems with it. it is one of the top 3 recommended memory modules to run actually, along with corsair and original samsung.

you should have no troubles what so ever.

HI, MSI makes a version of the same vodeo card, maybe that's abetter way to go, less problems with compatability, tho I think you will be fine . Just compare the 2 cards ,and pick what's right for you. BD51

Thanks for the help guys. I am using and Antec 400wtt power supply with 240wtts on the the 3.3 and 5 rails, so i should be fine.
I have checked out the reviews on the MSI G4ti4200 and i believe i will go for that one since it has a nice software package with it.

I wonder if i could bother you with 1more questions. First their is a Raid version of this board that i can buy for just a couple dollars difference. I am going to be using the computer for gaming and since ive never owned a Raid board do you think I would take a performance hit if I was to use a the Raid version of the KT3 ultra2?

    Thanks for your advice

no you wouldnt. if you are not equipped to run raid, but intend to run it later, you can disable the feature in the bios and system performance will not be affected at all. if you have no intentions of ever running raid, then save yourself those few dollars and go for the ultra2 non raid.

gonna depend on how much the difference in cost is between the 2 and whether or not you plan to use it in the future.
    hmm...
