Listen to LiquidSoul. He is right.

I have both the Logitech Cordless Freedom Optical (keyboard and
    mouse) and the MX700.

The Cordless freedom works great, but the mouse does have a
    lag (although small) in gaming.

The MX700 is a superior mouse with no lag in gaming.

I think the Logitech hardware is nice, but the drivers SUCK. The
buttons are not supported when gaming. I can't use my MX700
when playing UT2003 because I can't program the buttons.

If you are looking for a gaming mouse, don't buy Logitech.

It has the same shape as the Microsoft Wireless Intellimouse explorer except that it uses the Bluetooth technology.

    mx500

I just got the mx500 and the scroll didnt work in games. Logitech has new drivers which resolve this issue but overall I dont think this $40 mouse seems any better than the $20 except for the extra buttons.

The 500 that I tested worked in games only if you did not install the logitech drivers. If you did that the scroll wheel would not work in games.

Overall I think Microsoft is spitting out the best input devices as far as mice go. They tend to be able to work with the OS for some reason

If you are a fan of Logitech and want some buttons I would check out last years generation of opticals. They had pretty much the same layout but they worked very well with games as long as you did not install the drivers.
