    Personally you should test with ATTO that way you can see what type of write you are getting on both drives. Since I just had two Maxtor's die on me within a month I say go WD. But, it is up to you because the both display roughly the same numbers.

    i have just a 2mb WD disk , but these 8mb , special edition or so doesn't seem faster to me .

    Benchmarks don't really reflect the effect of the 8 meg cache.

    The read burst speed in your test run is ~25% lower than it should be. If you're running win-xp this is happens a lot. I don't have a fix for that but perhaps someone else here does.

    BTW - the read burst speed bar graph tops off at 80. Check the file

    C:\Program Files\HD Tach\hdtach.log

    for the actual numbers measured.
