next UT2003 map pack who cares.

after playing the game since october I got the conclusion the I still Love the first UT, just look the maps from the first UT the game flow is excellent. people from my server still say the new game maps are big, slow, and the weapon lay out is not really good, just look DM-Plunge there is a goo-gun when the rocket is the best weapon for the map. Yeah the graphics are excellent but I think is what the Epic boys dont seem to undestand, with graphics only you dont pull a excellent first shooting game. Anyway sometimes playing UT2003 I miss the good rotation maps like Morpheos, Barricade, Face....I haven't give up my best game. UT rules...

I agree, the maps are lacking in UT2K3, but I hope they improve things with the bonus pack.

Played some Halo again on the XBox... nothing on the PC comes close to matching the same squad-based feel with furious FPS (not to mention a good mix of vehicles).

I'm sorry but UT2003 owns UT, without using mods. I played UT since 99, and switched to UT2003 the day the demo came out, and have loved every minute of it. As far as weapons, they are far better in UT2003. The flak cannon is far more precise than the old, the lightning gun is a more precise zoom weapon that doesn't cater to camping. In my opinion all the weapons have been improved, and the lame ones are gone. As far as maps, the maps are well designed in UT2003. Why is there a bio rifle in Plunge? Look at where it is, down bellow inside where gravity is normal. As far as the rocket launcher the best weapon for Plunge, um no. The lightning gun is. I'll play you one on one with the lightning gun versus the rocket launcher any day.

I've heard a lot of UT players bitch about UT2003, for various reasons. Too much like Quake 3 for example. I don't know how you could compare it to that cartoon on crack game, but anyways. I think most of them that were good on UT are now getting owned on UT2003, and then bitching about the game.

But it all comes down to what you like to play, and whatever that is, play it. As far as who cares about new maps. I do. If Epic doesn't hurry up and release the bonus pack I might punch someone in the head!

Zoom Instagib on Plunge in UT2003 is cool too Was playing that the other night with only 4 people on the map. It was a slower paced more tactical match that usual. You had to tip-toe around to avoid getting spotted and then sniped a second later.

Jerky, with all this controversy I may just have to put the original UT back on my hard drive and run a server so the frogs can decide which they prefer What do ya think?

LOL We're going retro now, are we? UT is SOOOOO 90s!!!

I'd be willing to play some UT classic. Should be a nice change.

    UT2K3 just needs more content.

yea , Instagib in UT 2003 is great, it much better than the original UT, a good point to Digital and Epic for this Update. I still believe the Rocket is the best weapon for Plunge. The thing upset me about that map is the jumping pad and the goo-gun (must be rocket) there, dont get me wrong I love the goo-gun but in tight maps like Phobos, Infierno. About the jumping pad it **** me off when I jump and someone is shooting me in the back , I turn around and you miss the landing spot , if you dont have translocator you are done.. UT has secret spots where you can hide and use the sniper rifle in Dm- Tempest there is a dark spot by the armor where you hide and head shot, this game is great.

Overall I think the gameplay, weapons, and graphics in UT2003 are very good. But some of the maps that came with the game blow. I've downloaded and installed a load of custom maps so that helped a bit. It has to pick up online a bit too, just seems like alot of servers are not happening. I have my filter set to just show me servers with players on it.

Yeah, the new game modes do seem very interesting. I think they will bring some new life into the game. The new maps are a bonus.

Although I'm really starting to hate Gamespot because all their 'locked' content, here is more info on the upcoming UT bonus pack.

I can't really say that UT2003 is better than UT, I like them both. But they both have negatives also.

However, I have grown bored of TDM and CTF. Too much of a solo-player type game. Yea they are team games, but when I play them I don't feel like im part of a team.

However BM, now that is really a team game. The ability to pass the ball (or bomb) to a team mate is assume (basketball with guns ). Too bad you can't throw the Flag to a team mate in CTF. Ding Ding Ding, Atari are you listening....

Naaah, throwing the flag between team-members makes it identical to BR, you just got to get to the other base. The point of having a CTF where you have to carry the flag is that the tactics are different.

Lenny, try some of the sites I use a lot in my B&P links. Some of them are excellent sources for info and most of them are still free for all links.
