    Demos out

The Demo is on the coverdisc of the DEC issue of Linux Format Magazine. The Mag says you must have Nividia drivers or I forgot but another set of drivers for ATI cards other than the native linux drivers. If it is on Demo I think they will port it to Linux. What I have read is it will be just like Star Office 6.0 and the same CD will install to Windoze or Linux.
I have the coverdisc with the demo one it. I just have not installed the Nvidia drivers after hearing all the horrer stories. I spoke with a person yesterday at the PC shop who was running RedHat 8.0 and he said the Nvidia drivers worked great but that the read me file was wrong on the Nvidia site and to do a google search for the correct info on installing the drivers.

are you talking about unreal2 or unrealtournament2003?

There shouldn't be any horror stories with the nvidia drivers. Just people don't read the README that goes with it.

I must have misunderstood . I am refering to unreal tournement2003. I did hear that the read me file was incorrect. I have the RPMs I just havent installed them as I dont want to have to fix everything if I screw it up. I am fairly new to linux. Is the Read Me file correct for the Nvidia linux drivers the GLX and the kernel drivers because if it is I am going for it. I will probably use tarballs instead though or source RPMs
    Thanks

The RPMs really suck for installing. You gotta install this from source.

The problem most people have is they haven't got the kernel headers. Get the ones for your linux kernel, put them in /usr/src/linux, and you're good to go.

There used to be some discrepancies in the older README for the nvidia drivers. But mostly all it was was where to throw the options for things like twinview into screen instead of device was all it really was. They are fine and I havn't noticed an error in it for some time now.

Anyhow, get the src rpm's and rebuild and install from those.

Well, I got a message from Ryan over at epic today. As of now he says they have no plans to do the port right now. But he is pushing for it.

So lets hope he gets his way. We all know epic has been pretty good about this kind of stuff in the past. For the guys that do care, I think some flaunting around on the unreal2.com site may be a good way to help them see that we want such things and it's not just a huge waste of time doing the port.
