Well, as i've stated, and ironically enough, I got referred here, by a link on shuttle's website, while I was seeking help for my P4 motherboard, (although i was using a celeron, heh).

And, beacuse of it, you can now see my new computer stats. ^^

my god are you mad, ford better than chevy? i am an auto tech
i make a lot of money on ford, chrysler, jeep.but not on chevys.

    Hello everyone
Here is another Intel user - for 4 years now running a celeron 300A running 100mhz FSB on a Asus P2b.
Mind you my first computer ever was a (super fast) appleII+
    - a bit of sarcasm on that one then i went to an amd 386dx back in the days when they were running on OH i should'nt say this but i will- INTEL INSTRUCTION CODE - but now that i am very succesfully running win xp on this c300a@450mhz it needs a little bit more juice. Not sure what i will buy next (any tips)

    Abit IC7-G Max2 Advance
    2.4C P4

    or

    Abit NF7-S v2.0
    Barton XP2500+

But I'd probably get the first if I was starting from scratch.

They're both damn good fun to tweak, that being the Nforce 2 for AMD and the Canterwood for Intel............i just get a kick out of pushing the limits of both chips and chipsets.....i was once a moronic ultra AMD and Nvidia fanboy/bi**ch/flag waver/twit......etc but what the heck, now i use and tweak anything i can get from anywhere be it ATI,Nvidia,AMD,Intel or wherever....I LOVE IT !

You can get XP to run on lower than 300 Mhz. I had it running on a K6-II(I think) 266 that had 256 MB. Although if you do get it running on the 166, it will take all the patience you have, as it will be dog-@ss slow. I also had XP running for the longest time on a celeron 300a@450. Had my old all-in-wonder 7500 in that computer, used it as a pvr mostly. Worked great with a 60 GB hard drive. Played my TV fine, recorded flawlessly, and would play DVD's and the videos back fine. Just don't ask it to attempt to play games. eVentually I scrapped it though, needed the space for my new 4th computer.

I keep going back and forth between AMD and Intel. I was primarily Intel until I built my KT266 Athlon 1.4 setup. I went through the XP series to the XP2500+ Barton and then I went AMD duallie for a while. Since the Northwoods came out, I've been mostly Intel with an occasional AMD duallie build. Then the Athlon 64 came out so now I'm running a P4 3.06 @ 3.45 GHz Intel RDRAM rig and a new Athlon 64 3200+ @ 2.25 GHz setup. But, I really can't see coming here for advice on my Intel setup since most here are AMD fan boys and wouldn't be much help. You want to go where the experience is.

I don't know, there's a LOT of guys here that do like you, and run both. I myself run AMD only, but the reasoning behind that is ONLY $$$$. I simply don't have the $$$ needed to build an intel rig that can rival my AMD rigs. I would LOVE to build one, but unless someone donates some parts for me, I am unable too.

Actually, my Intel rig wasn't that expensive.

Gigabyte Mobo - $75 on eBay
    Retail P4 3.06 - $250 at another forum
    2x 256MB PC1066 RDRAM - $110 at another forum.

The all-copper HS/Fan that comes with the P4 3.06 is plenty good enough, so I saved $50 or so on a HS/Fan setup. I've had several i865PE dual DDR Intel setups with P4 2.4C, 2.6C, and 2.8C CPUs. But they weren't that much faster than the RDRAM rig so I just kept that one.
