Alright I just tried recompiling the drivers on the new kernel and it gave me a LONG list of error messages. I did some reading on the new kernel and apparently you only have to download it if you will be mounting / unmounting file systems as there is a bug now that corrupts data. So with that in mind I decided I didn't want the new kernel and the additional hassle of trying to get it all to work again, so I used markkuk's commands and now its all back to working great again and grub only displays one kernel too Thanks again guys... I think over the last two days my linux knowledge has doubled... hahaha... well... they did say the learning curve was steep. I really do like redhat though... I haven't used my windows partition since I installed it
