    Help With 9500 pro

Just installed a 9500 pro in my system and direct x seems as if it can't see the card. Tried installing the 4.38,4,42 and the 4.43 via drivers also tried the cat 2.4, 2.5 and the 3.0 drivers to no avail can't play any games. other then that the card seems fine drivers installed good and everything seems alright there except in the smart gart tab under display porperties it shows agp in the off positon and i can't change it. Upgraded form a Radeon 7200. Any help will be greatly appreciated. I am about to pull my har out on this one. Can't run any benchmarks it keeps giving a direct x error.

Yes and I reinstalled dx9. Did a total drivers uninstall(cleaned out reg) and also did a repair install of win xp to no avail. Dx isn't reporting the mem of the card and also under the diplsy tab it has not availble by the Direct draw Acceleration, Direct 3d accel.,and Agp Texture accel.

Did you have VIA 4in1's installed before the upgrade? I ask because Abit reccommends against installing 4in1's due to the native suport for these borads in XP. I have a KG7-lite and have never installed any motherboard drivers. That said, maybe you should consider a backup and reformat. I ended up having a couple issues when I snagged my 9500Pro and the reformat fixed things. It is a bit of a pain in the ***, but short of updating drivers (which you have already tried), I'm not sure.

Have you tried completey uninstalling the card from your sytem and installing it again?

    Cheers

One more thing...check your BIOS settings and make sure you have 4X enabled. Not sure if it is an issue, but the card runs at 4X and 8X AGP bus speeds and if you're running 2X in your BIOS it may cause problems.

I didn't think I would have to go that far at first when I was replacing a Radeon with a Radeon. Didn't have to do that when I went from the rage Fury pro to the Radeon 64meg vivo card but I guess with usng the same kind of driver package that I had to wipe all traces of the previous card out of the system. It is running great now had some probs with games at first but installed the via 4in1 4.38 drivers and the cat 3.0's and the sys. seems to be running sweet now.

Yes reinstalled dx 9 and things are good. Even with the cat 3.0's. I did go and download the newer version of the cat 3.0's though. I am really impressed with the card didn't think I would see as big of an improvement over the 64 meg ddr card but it was worth the $195 and the format and reinstall of win xp.
