Crap this is a pain in the ass!!! OK Back on my workstation 24.13.207.38 and hope this works this time. I'm setting up through the menu so Athlonmb.com Sam Server is up for another test run. Boy are they going to get a letter from ME!!! Hope to see you soon.
Ok got it to run finally. It works pretty good and well it is only a test ver and as they say "THIS IS NOT A DEMO". Had a lot of people playing tried Frag match but I really like the CO-OP game. Makes for a lot of fun and you can tell really quick who is going to cover your back! I'll run the server tomorrow might even try to dedicate it. The multiplayer needs a lot of work I could only support 2-3 players on the cable modem. In UT I can get up to 5. Oh, watch your connection settings this can really effect how the game plays. All in all it looks to be a winner when the full version comes out. Had one player connected with a dial-up. He was playing pretty good but he said it was a bit slooow. Boy do I remember those days. Till tomorrow....
Glad you got it running. Maybe we could try again sometime this week? If I would have checked the forum yesterday I would have tried to play but my girlfriend jumped on my main machine and played QIII for -TWELVE- hours straight, she plays with a bunch of peeps over at Quake3world all the time and since I have DSL and she has a 56k dial up she just went nuts. She usally plays for an hour or two when she comes over but -TWELVE- frickin' hours?? The thing is she's getting so good I don't even play her on my LAN anymore because if she wins she taunts me about all day.
I'm having some freezing problems when running the test.
It starts fine and will even run the opening demo. I go to start a single player game. I am able to get through the first 2 rooms, but it freezes just when the door to the first "out doors" area opens(after grabbing the shotgun). Fatal Exception in Engine.dll.

The funny thing is I was able to join a multiplayer game over my LAN under 2000, haven't tried it with 98 and haven't had a chance to see if single player works in 2k.
I installed the 2.1a patch. From what I read it includes the 2.1 updates as well. I didn't see any compatibility issues besides netowrk issues addressed in the release notes though.
Look under options, down to execute addons. You will see the 4th item down GFX: nVidia S3TC FIX. Install this by double clicking and let me know how it works.
Well, I haven't tried the TC fix yet, I'll do that tonight. I am getting freezing and crashes at the same place in both 2000 and 98se. If I go into the secret area before proceeding forward, that area loads just fine, but same error as I proceed to the "first outdoors area."
I join a multiplayer game once it was past this point, so it may be something in that one area. We'll see what happens tonight.
Last night after upgrading a Classis 600 to a Classic 900 I need to test the setup. I had put in a GeForce2 MX in this machine a couple weeks ago for a buddy and this was the first time I would get to see SS w/GeForce2 MX in action. All I can say is WOW This game looks awesum with the GeForce2 MX. It really puts the old Voodoo3 3000 to shame. I hate to admit it but DAMN.
