    Ghost Recon for $US 9.90

Gogamer.com has it in the new 48 hour Madness sale.

I've heard that the multiplayer is really good in this game but how is the single player? Does multiplayer supports bots if you only have a few people to play with? Is the gameplay similar to MOHAA?

Let me know what you think about this game. I might just buy it even though I just spent $36 at gogamer last week

Thanks for the info Lenny! Ya know... I need to figure out what's up with GoGamer... I haven't gotten a Madness e-mail since I purchased something from them back in December.

Signing up again for the newsletter will usually solve that problem but the best way to insure you never miss a sale is to check the site every couple days.

I personally really enjoy the single player. It's a squad based game where you typically deploy 3 teams to meet your objectives. When I first started playing it I never used my other two teams, but I never really bothered to either. I soon learned that the AI for the other teams is decent and they are a great help if you have them cover you and stuff. That's not to say that you can't control the other squads, but it's just handy to send them around the back way while you go up the middle, or vice versa.

Also, in the single player, you earn stat points and "Specialists." As you complete missions you are awarded with points that you can put into several different abilities, and these abilities effect the performance of your character. Along with the specialists and points you are also given medals for different accomplishments. The medals don't do anything special for you, but they are nice to look at.

Yes, and no. I mean, yes it does, but it doesn't have to. There are several different game types with the multiplayer, and I believe the option is "AI Assitance" which will add bots to your team. You can select to play the missions from single player online thus enabling you to have co-operative play, and it's quite fun. There's a couple missions that I like to play where you defend a base against a couple tanks a few dozen badguys.. loads of fun.

I would say it is in the sense that it's a shoot'em up, but Ghost Recon is more tactical than MOHAA. MOHAA has a bettery storyline, and in Ghost Recon it just feels like you're hopping from mission to mission, which is great in it's own respect. Also, Ghost Recon keeps in the Tom Clancy style of gameplay. You're a crosshair walking around.

I would definitely purchase it if I didn't have the game already. I have no problems running the game with the details maxed out and at 1600x1200x32, but it's advised to not turn on shadows because they can hinder performance. It doesn't really matter though because you don't really notice it. Then there's the fact that after you beat Ghost Recon you can move on to Desert Siege and Island Thunder expasion packs.

So basically, it's a great game.

Well, I went for it. $9.90 is impossible to pass up. My brother-in-law has it and loves it.

I saw this as well. Just tried the demo. Compared to the UT series and the Quake series, it quite slow. I know it's a diffeneret game all together <dawns antiflame suit>. That's just what I'm used to. I may try it again at home. I'm one ofthose people who just can't pass up a good deal, ya know? I may buy just to say to myself, hey, it was $10!!

That's exactly what I thought of the demo, too slow paced for me.

I have no idea why but Gogamer's 48 hour sale has turned into a 75 hour sale. LOL. I went to gogamer last night to order Ghost Recon and instead of there being under 2 hours left in the sale (should have ended 1am EST 1/31) there was 28+ hours left So anyway, 15 hours left if anyone is still thinking about it.

I also picked up some junk game called Mortyr 2093-1944. I think it's a pretty bad game but it was exactly $US 0.99 and no extra shipping so I figured ... why not

Most of their "48" hour sales actually last 3 or 4 days.... I think they usually run 2 a week, judging from the emails I get. Great deals anyway, I picked up IL2 Sturmovik and Undying for $12.90 each (God knows when I'll ever have time to play them though).

And Ghost Recon is a great game. It's far more realistic than UT or Quake or even MOHAA. The closest thing I can compare it to is Operation Flashpoint. I just wish I had more time to play it (OFP too for that matter ).

Play undying in the dark and alone, you'll have a blast
